Angry frustrated with weight gain, Glucophage

I was diagnosed with IR in May. I started taking 1500 mg of glucophage in June and I lost 30 pounds in less than four months. Also during June July and August I was living out of state and found it easy and even a little exciting to start my low-carb diet. (The only reason I was able to get on glucophage was because I went out of state) Since I've been home (august) my weight has started to slide back up and I have gained back 15 pounds. I am finding it really hard to live with eating low carb, especially because my SO and I cook and eat meals together all the time.

I have also found that i have more symptoms of hypoglycemia since i have been on gluc. i get severe symptoms of low blood sugar before meals, and this scares me because i wonder if this is a sign that i have developed diabetes??

I don't have a nutritionist, doctor, or GYN to talk to who knows about or even believes in PCOS. I feel so lost and frustrated with this! I don't want to gain all the weight back and my glucophage prescription is up in less than a month.

What do i do? Will a higher dose of gluc help me? I am so very frustrated with my body and i just wish i was normal with no IR, no PCOS, no nothing.

anybody, help!

Smile Hope this helps....

Megan,
First of all, congrats on the weight you did lose. The gluc should not be causing hypoglyemic symptoms, because the drug does not actively lower blood sugar levels...it's an insulin enabler. (It makes your insulin work more efficiently.) Low carb can be hard to stick to...At least for me it was, so I'm doing the insulin resistance diet. One thing I will tell you is that you may be low carbing too hard. Your brain needs glucose to function properly, and if it's not getting enough, it can cause NASTY cravings...the kind that last for days and just won't go away. I know because I had them while low carbing. This could be what you're experiencing.
At any rate, I would consult a professional just to be sure everything is okay, especially if there is a history of diabetes in your family.
I have found that the insulin resistance diet is much more livable for me, and I don't have the nasty side effects that I had low carbing. I take met, and it seems to be working very well together. Good luck, and I hope this helps!
