Default full body waxing

I have PCOS and I'm African Caribbean. My have lots and lots of dark, thick and course hair on my arms, legs, face, chest, abdomen, butt, and the small of my back. I was thinking on waxing but I know that hurts. I was thinking on doing it myself because professionals cost too much. Is it possible to do a full body waxing? I heard if you apply a numbing gel before waxing, you don't feel much. Who has tried waxing with the gel? How long does it take for the hair to grow back and does it grow back dark, thick, and course or is it smoother and lighter? I don't know what to expect.

I tried shaving, but the hair grows back in less than 14 hours and my face is very sensitive and hurts when i try to shave again. My legs get cut and I can't reach the back of it. I heard waxing is the best solution aside from laser treatments (which is expensive).

Input, anyone?

Arrow Hi doublehibiscus

I too have to wax. I wax my chin, upper lip, eyebrows and occasionally my sideburns. If I have a boyfriend (which currently I don't), then I also get my tummy waxed as it is very hairy as well as the tops of my thighs.

To be honest, I did try to wax myself but it turned out horribly. I ended up taking a layer of skin off when I did one of my eyebrows and for the rest of my face, I either didn't apply the wax properly (but not for lack of trying) and/or only half the hair came out and I had to pluck out the rest... owwwieees!

The only "successful" wax was when I did my legs. I was able to do that fairly well with the exception of the back of my legs (I am not very flexible and couldn't seem to be able to angle myself to enable me to apply the wax and the removing strips properly.

I know what you mean about cost! A few times I have gone to a professional for the whole kit and kaboodle only to have to pay $100.00 a session. My friend at work told me about an aesthethic school that I could go to where you get waxed by a student who is being supervised by their instructor, for a really discounted price. My co-worker said that she only paid something like $2 or $3 for her eyebrows and $7 for a half leg wax. I thought about going as I pay $14 for my eyebrows and $30 for my legs, but I haven't gone yet. If I do, I'll let you know how it works out. You could check if there is such a school in your area and give them a call to find out their prices.

I hope this helps.

the reason i wanted to do it myself, aside from the cost, was that i didn't want anyone to see me. i'm very self conscious about my hair.

especially my butt hair.

Waxing is always better. It's a matter of getting used to.
Try it yourself and you'll see is not bad at all.
