Hey Everyone!
I'm brand new to this forum, and THRILLED that there is an entire section devoted to WLS.
Prior to my PCOS diagnosis last Friday, I had been working towards getting approved for WLS.
I attended my first seminar in July 2008.... and have been jumping through all the various hoops for insurance approval, including: a 6 month diet, psych evaluation, counseling, nutrition counseling, exercise counseling, support groups, blood tests, etc.
I am about 90% approved, according to the surgeon's office... just waiting on some last paperwork. I think I may also submit my PCOS diagnosis, I think it *might* count as a second co-morbidity. If not, the insulin resistance should!
I am currently 4'11 and 232lbs. According to the physician, my "lean mass" (?) is around 150lbs... which means I'm far more muscular than most people my size. We were baffled at first.... but the insulin resistance explains it all, according to my doctor. *sigh*
Anyway... I am thrilled to know that there are others with PCOS who have been successful with WLS. I look forward to getting to know you girls better!
