Yep It is the Lithium unfortunately that is a side effect of it because pcos symptoms include bypolar like actions it doesnt mean you are bypolar however there are other meds that can help I took cymbalta for awhile before I got put on bcp, Met, but they did it one med at a time I started taking yasmin I noticed a big change in my emotional state where as before I was just a crying mess then I was put on met because I was IR had alot of hyperinsulemia episodes bad ones I dont have cyst though so im kinda of a odd case pcos I have everything else but nocysts You could research different meds I to took lithium for a month gained 10lbs because obesity is a factor in pcos but not alway a symptom for some I was already having trouble trying to lose weight and That med was just going to make my condition worse The more weight you gain the more symptoms that you have and the worse they get but your med choice is up to you not your dr unless it poses harm to you or your body I was trying everything to get me under controlmany dctrs, endo, gyns, pshyc as well as many meds paxil, prozac, lithium,st john wort, and pcos was brought to my attention by a fill in dr(my dr was out on maternity leave) I went without a period for eight months and she sent me to a gyn then to an endo but because I didnt have cyst they didnt treat me for pcos I was an emotional wreck, I had to fight my insurance company for cymbalta but finally they gave it to me I was on it for 8 months until the doctors figured out I had a hormonal inbalance duh? And My family doctor started to treat me for pcos as I requested so Im doing alot better emotionally and physically and I want that for everybody I still have bad days but not like they used to be I am once again secure in my job Im truely suprised they tolerated me throught the emotional warfare Im greatful for all the good people in the world Most doctors would prefer to cover up than to fix You know whats best for you do some research and see what your options are cymbalta helped me greatly in the time of need and it didnt make me gain weight but everybody is different what worked for me may not work for others There are many great medication choices but you have to be patient and willing to try I know you want relief right away but it is still a journey because it takes time and patience. I HOPE I HELPED YOU A BIT and dont let anyone dictate to you about how you are feeling you are the only one who knows that I had dctrs tell me I was imagining things and fabricating things I dont think people understand what pcos can do to a person if left untreated and ingnored But finally when I look back to how I was and now Im greatful my treatment is working for me my family dr is also my gyn and she has gotten to see the difference I was in her office atleast once a week freaking out I finally asked her to do some research and treat me for pcos and she said all my symptoms matched up to the symptoms related to pcos and started my treatment 2 months ago I went back to her to get my pap done and she said I looked great and asked me how I was doing with the meds I said no more hyperinsulemia episodes I stepped on her scale and she was in shock Ive lost 35lbs in 3 months she also said she noticed a difference in my emotional and overall appearence I feel really good about the steps Ive taken, the journey was horrible but outcome is looking great my doctor finally understands me and she listens to every detail now THANK GOD
