I just went to see a new Endo, and while she ordered all the standard blood tests, she also ordered a gall bladder U/S. I havee never heard of that before as something to check for with PCOS. What would that be for? Any ideas?

Gallstones or gallbladder disease, it's common for women with PCOS to have them, I've had mine out but that was a year before I was DX. If you're having pain in the stomach/lower chest area and have told your doctor its most likely what they are checking for.

Thats the thing, I have had no pain at all. Nothing. I didn't mention anything to her about pain in my stomach. The only thing I mentioned to her about my insides was constipation and reflux (before I went on a diet and lost weight.) Could those somehow be related to why she wants a gall bladder U/S?

Perhaps, it sounds like she's thinks its to do with your bile (thus checking the gallbladder) High Fat diets and unhealthy eating can aggravate the gallbladder. It's always better to be safe than sorry. If you do get gallstones, you get these horrible cramps! They are the worse.

What you could have thought was reflux could be signs of gallbladder issues. I thought I had bad heartburn when I was pregnant turned out to be my gallbladder was failing. How is your skin tone. My doctor actually had told me that I had a yellow skin tone when they were diagnosising me for my gallbladder. When you pass a stone it throws your liver enzymes sp? off.
I had my gallbladder removed 4 years after my symptoms started but 9 years before I was diagnosed. They said my gallstones were caused by stress. The constipation could definately be a sign of gallbladder problems. I wouldn't worry too much, even if it turns out you need it removed. It's a very simple one-day surgery these days, usually with no or minimal complications. I was in and out the same day with only a couple days of recovery at home.

I was diagnosed with gallstones 18 months ago. I had pain though with what I thought was a kidney stone. Turned out I had gallstones. I still have mine in, but have pretty bad flares occasionally. They can be "silent stones" or you can be pretty sick with them.
My doc told me PCOS is a culprit and so is taking Clomid, which I have done as well.
Gallstones block the common hepatic duct. This means that your bile has no where to go. So your body has to try to break down the bile in other ways. The body is not good at breaking down bile. It will circulate in your blood causing your skin to turn yellowish, because sunlight helps your body to break it down in the skin. It is why they give slightly jaundiced babies light treaments and put them near windows.
Bile is produced by every cell in your liver. It gets stored in the gall bladder for when we eat fatty meals. When we eat the meal, the gall bladder dumps the bile into our upper intestine. The bile helps us to digest the fat. People who have had their gall bladders removed will often have fatty stools for this reason.
All that said, I had never heard about it as a was to DX PCOS. Perhaps he or she was wanting to rule out gall stones as the cause of the cramping.
