Hi all, been lurking just posting, My DW has just been diagnosed with Gall Stones and is really freaking out about the sr. We just had our first little Girl and she had to have a C-section after 20 hrs of labor. She's terrified that the sr for the Gall stones will be like the C-section. Even though she'd read through the various posts here about the sr.
Any advice on how I can re-assure her that it will be okay? She's scared that if they put her under she won't wake up and will miss watching our DG grow up.
Way easier procedure than C-section! Mom had gb removed and was feeling good in about 3 days. Back to work in 1 week, and she only waited that long cuz doc made her.

I had my gallbladder removed when I was 18 and it was a piece of cake!!! Tell your DW not to worry, and that this way she can be healthy and happy watching your DD grow up!!! If she's really concerned have her talk to the anethisiologist about the risks of being put under for surgery. I was that way the first time they did it to me and he was REALLY reasssuring. Also remind her that the alternative (DYING) isn't any better than the surgery! GOOD LUCK!

I had my gallbladder out 3 months after having a c section too. I was also scared to death of never waking up. You should have seen the look on the nurses face when I asked if anyone has ever gone under and not come out there! lol She assured me it had never happened. It was wayyyyy easier to recover from that. I never took any pain pills or meds. They gave me something right as I came out of it, but I had an allergic reaction and they counter acted it. The worst pain I had with it was from the air they fill you with. They try to get it all out, but didn't quite get it all, so it moved up into my shoulders and neck. Other than that, it was not too bad. There is really nothing you will be able to say to reassure her. It's scary to have surgery. Just be understanding, and there for her. She will see when it's done that she didn't have much to fear.
