thanks for all the help i have the mysterious phantom pain every time i laugh cough or take a deep breath and its really starting to bother me even more at night where i cant sleep like i used to im going back to the surgeon in a week i will have to see what he says

I had mine out about 10 years ago. Only problem I really ever had is, every now and then if I stretch weird I get pinching pain there but nothing serious. Had mine done laproscopicly, I now have a hernia when the top incision is. Keep asking my GP about getting it fixed because sometimes I have pain there now.

Otherwise over the years nothing bad at all. Healing for me was 2 fold, had cysts removed from my ovaries when I had my gallbladder out.

I had my gallbladder out when I was 17 (8 years ago). I had some pain and they told me it was from the gas they put in you to move other organs out of the way when they do the surgery. That lasted for almost a week and then it went away. My biggest problem was my bowels, everything I ate (and I still do this) seems to go right through me.

i had my gallbladder removed a few years ago, and every once in awhile i'll still get pains that feel like my gallbladder attacks did.. it was so bad one night i ended up going to the ER about it.. they didn't do too much.. they did some blood work and my liver enzymes were pretty elevated so they told me to follow up with my regular doctor the next day. they started doing all kinds of tests trying to rule out hepatitis and all that junk and it all came back negative so they referred me to a GI doctor. he did an ultrasound of around the area where my gallbladder was because he said sometimes when you have your gallbladder removed esspecially laporsocpic stones can sometimes slip into i guess the ducts or something around there so he was checking for that but nope no stones.. so to this day i'm still left not knowing wut the pains are caused from.. i had never heard of anyone having the pains like that after they had their gallbladder removed

I'm having mine removed on Monday. Boy do I wish someone who hasn't experienced phantom pains would pop in!

I remember having similar pain after surgery- that along with the backs of my shoulders hurt badly. ouch.. I do remember that well too. The pain got better after a few days. But again if it is severe- call your doctor, just to let them know! :-) Get to feeling better soon!

I had very bad pains in my shoulders too. I was told it was from the gas leaving your body, but it just seems strange to me.

I had my gallbladder removed in January. I had HORRIBLE pain where it was for a couple weeks. No one told me about the possibility of pain from air bubbles. I had really bad pain where my liver was as well. It started a few days after the surgery when I was moving around more. I ended up in the ER because it was so bad.

While in surgery my doc found an umbellical hernia. He repaired this. Because the incision was in my belly button and I am so obese the incision couldn't heal properly. It became badly infected. I had to go in for a second surgery to have it cleaned out. The second one was SO much more painful. I had to have a nurse come to my apartment daily to change the dressings.

I say this to make sure you doc closely checks your incisions at post op appointments. If mine would have the problems would have been prevented.

diamondintherough- i had my gallbladder out last may and have been fine since then no pains at all really i definately think it was the best thing i ever did seeing as how bad the gallbladder pains are! good luck you'll be fine x

Never knew there was a relation to that and PCOS. Makes sense. I had mine out 8 mos after DD was born in an emergency. I didn't even know I had issues when it was blocked...on vacation and had it out on vacation. Luckily just visiting family. Anyway looking back and talking to ER Dr's the attacks started while pregnant with DD.So it happened fast!

To OP I had pain for about a week. Some was where the gallbladder was because one of my slits was near there I figured. Plus they have to put gas in your belly to do it to.
