It eludes me.
It avoids me.
It runs away from me.
It hides from me.
It's not a game I choose to play
It's a game that plays me.
Sometimes for weeks
Sometimes for months
Before I know if I even had a chance
And then find out I didn't.
It makes me laugh and cry.
It makes me not want to try
or to try harder
Just to watch someone else win
again and again.
It's a lottery that I play
and pay with a piece of my heart
Fertility.
