A ganglion is a sac-like swelling or cyst formed from the tissue that lines a joint or tendon. The tissue, called synovium, normally functions to produce lubricating fluid for these areas. A ganglion is a cyst formed by the synovium that is filled with a thick jelly-like fluid. While ganglia can follow local trauma to the tendon or joint, they usually form for unknown reasons. Occasionally, ganglia are early signs of arthritis that will become more obvious in the future.
I had one on my wrist. They drained if several times but it kept coming back, so they finally surgically removed it when I was in high school. I haven't had any problem since then with ganglions.

I have a couple on my right wrist, it started with one, Now I can see 2 more little ones now. They become painfull when I do physical things like gardening, mopping or sweeping a lot.
I've got one that shows up on the top of my right wrist. It's not very big right now because I'm on a bowling league, but once the season is over, it'll be back.

I had one on my left wrist about 2 years ago, it was there for about 5 months and then it just went away. Sometimes it caused trouble with moving some fingers.
It came back a few months ago and already went away. This time I didn't have any problems with movement.
I can't believe you have so many of them so many places! My boyfriend's brother is a nurse anesthetist and told me that the surgical procedure to get rid of it was very simple.

I was for me. I went home the next day. My entire hand looked AWFUL while it healed, but it wasn't a big deal. I have a pretty bad scar, there, however.

Aww it sucks your having to put up with them, 1 is bad enough!
I had one on the underside of my wrist and went to docs about it as i had exams coming up and it was causing pain, he was quite an old school guy and offered to hit it with a huge book! Safe to say i declined the offer and it just went away in time.
I was just going to say, as the PP... the old school thinking was to slam it with a book! AHH! But you can damage tiny hand bones doing that. I had 1 in my hand (not palm, other side) and the Dr. said he would consider surgery IF it became painful. It never did, it went away. I have gotten a few tiny ones on my fingers and had them aspirated which just means putting a tiny needle in it for a second. It worked.
I know someone who's had one around her shoulder for years. And another guy who has a big one at his wrist. Tiny ones aren't so bad, even if a little painful. Big ones aren't bad if they don't hurt - just look funny. And big ones that hurt... I feel sorry for anyone w/ that!
Good luck!
