Default Gary Taubes new book ...fantastic!

May i recommend his new book "Good calories Bad calories" he's a science journalist whose finally managed to compile all the conflicting clinical research studies since the 1800's, 1900's and 2000's so far to give a very clear picture of what information has been withheld from the public for over a century.

a must read if you want to make an informed decision about what type of foods may or may not have a huge impact on your health as a sufferer of PCOS and all the attendant metabolic syndrome abnormalities....blood pressure problems, cholesterol difficulties, diabetes, cancer etc....

you won't regret pushing your way through the details, they can be hard going at times but don't give up! you will be amazed at the clarity of the expose of the efforts to keep information from you and your doctor....

I've just finished reading my copy and am newly resolved to stay away from all sugary and starchy carbs for good....they really can be like a poison to people who have been fooled into believing they are a "health food".

You may be able to pre-order and get from Amazon or Chapters and get it before it's actually released. that's how i got my copy and it's the best explanation of the diet wars that i've ever read.....

He is one of my favorite journalists! He wrote that New York Times article a few year ago:

What if It's All Been A Big Fat Lie?
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...B63&sec=health

Excerpt

Quote:
If the members of the American medical establishment were to have a collective find-yourself-standing-naked-in-Times-Square-type nightmare, this might be it. They spend 30 years ridiculing Robert Atkins, author of the phenomenally-best-selling ''Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution'' and ''Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution,'' accusing the Manhattan doctor of quackery and fraud, only to discover that the unrepentant Atkins was right all along. Or maybe it's this: they find that their very own dietary recommendations -- eat less fat and more carbohydrates -- are the cause of the rampaging epidemic of obesity in America. Or, just possibly this: they find out both of the above are true.

This book is fantastic. Everyone should read it. It is a very heavy read and gets very technical in parts but anybody with an interest in nutrition or health should study it closely.

It should become the nutrition bible.
