Question Gelatin for hair loss?

I am ever so slightly freaked out : my hair seems to be coming out in clumps recently, and although it doesn't show yet I can tell it is getting thinner by the day. I heard gelatin (in capsules or drinks) was good for hair and nails. Has anyone tried with any success? Does it slow the thinning? I am already on Met and Aldactone.

Thanks

I tried gelatin when I was younger because I have always had poor, brittle nails and it did help.

I had not thought about it being good for hair but I suppose anything that is good for nails could be good for hair.

I am currently taking silica which is supposed to be good for hair along with brewers yeast and making sure I eat sufficient protein. On another board somebody reported that they have had success with inositol; and Saw Palmetto is also supposed to help. the one biggest thing that seems to make a different with new hair growth for me is eating enough protein. My new hair growth seems to be of a different texture to the rest of my hair and tends to stand off my head and be curly!!

Have you recently changed anything in your diet? What supplements do you take? I have also read that some people suffer more hair loss for three months after changing diets but that it is only temporary.

Stress can also be a cause.

If you do not have diagnosed thyroid problems you might also consider a kelp supplement. My hair actually grows faster when I supplement with kelp (but it also seems to "speed" up my metabolism slightly and make me extra hungry too.
