Default Generalized Anxiety

Does anyone else suffer from this? I did a board search but most of the results I found related to panic and anxiety attacks.

GAD is just awful. I feel tense and keyed up ALL the time.

I was just wondering if maybe there was some kind of hormonal component to it (though I did not notice any difference in my anxiety when I was on birth control or off of it, it's been bad regardless).

Dear blondeambition,

I am very familiar with GAD, but have not experienced the symptoms myself. I have a few friends who have suffered with it. It was like they were always on edge. Are you on any specific medications for it?

I do think, like with depression and any sort of other mental health issue, there can be a hormonal component to it especially with PCOS. I wish there was more research out there about this issue which is why I intend to contribute to the research with my dissertation. Would you be willing to participate in an interview to contribute to the discussion about mental health issues women are facing who are diagnosed with PCOS?

I personally have suffered from more depression than anxiety, but they can go hand in hand especially if your anxiety worsens to the point where you can't leave the house or just don't feel like becoming involved in anything because you are so anxious about what might happen. Definately I hope it does not get to this point for you. Are you seeing a therapist or getting support from your doctor about this issue?

Good luck to you hon.

i also suffer from anxiety and depression since i was young. I get so nervous in front of people and it does effect my social life. i wish i were more outgoing and i do not take medicines for my anxiety or depression either. i am just hoping that i can beat it myself and naturally. i am so happy to hear that i am not alone in this situation. thanks for being my support

Between counselling and regular exercise I have managed to keep my GAD at bay. As soon as I ease up on the exercise, I get all tense everytime I leave my house.

Yes. I wasn't sleeping well and have noticed increased heart rate for no apparent reason. I finally went to the doc. She started me on ambien and wanted to start celexa. I have been taking the ambien (1/2 tab) but have not started the celexa. I don't really want to. I'm gonna try to tackle this without it.

It does suck. Being edgy, and for me on the brink of what I think is depression. There are lots of factors with PCOS being one of them.

I'm new to this site and hope to find some commonalities with other PCOSers as I work thru this phase.

Best wishes to you.
