Rhonda,
At this point PCOS is a disease that has no cure. They are not sure what causes PCOS. The treatments being prescribed by doctors are birth control pills, or insulin controlling drugs used with diebetes. Unfortunately not many women have had good experiences with a doctor. Most of us have taken our health into our own hands. Utilizing message boards such as this one to get information out about what has worked for them. The thing that has helped alot of women is swithing to a low carb diet. This way of eating will get your insulin in balance in turn helping with alot of your symptoms, including regular ovulation. There are alot of sites and books on the subject. You're at the begining phase of your personal journey with PCOS at this point you will need to gather as much information as you can. To find information on the web about PCOS go to the "search" at the top right of your computer and type in PCOS.
Basiclly what is going on with your body right now is. Hormones are like information to your body. They work together to get the right message to the right body function. With PCOS the hormones are not balanced and there for are not working together. Because it is not something that you can see and hormones are always in flucuation it is very difficult to get and keep them balanced. You really need to learn about your body and understand how you feel.
The most important thing to learn is just because a doctor reccommends a treatment it does not necessarily make it right.
I hope this helps you,
Rebecca
