Default Getting hair removed from chin/neck...cost? procedure??

Hello ladies....
My boyfriend has offered to pay for me to get the little patches of hair on my neck and chin removed. What is the procedure involved in that, and how much does it cost?
Has anyone had that done? How many times does it take? Is it painful? Do I have to grow it back out first before its done? (I shave every other day or so)

Any info would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks!!

You can do either electrolysis or laser. Electrolysis does one hair at a time, laser does a patch at a time. I'm not sure of costs. I've seen laser mentioned here that cost anywhere from $150 - $400, depending on the area being treated. You can keep shaving between laser treatments (can take 4-10 sessions, depending on your hair, but it grows back thinner with each treatment).

You should be able to get a free consultation. Dermatologists do it, my old OB/GYN does it, there are lots of places that only do laser hair removal. Just make sure the person doing it has good credentials. Get refs if possible.

I'm going to get my first treatment next month (I usually pluck, and you have to shave instead for 4 weeks). I can't wait!

superk, You can have either waxing or laser. Both are very beneficial. Laser is permanent. At the spa I work at waxing runs about $15.00 per area laser runs about $500 per area and thats for the series of five. If you have any questions please ask!

Default I've done both laser and electrolysis

Do electrolysis. I've done both laser and electrolysis and while electrolysis takes longer its more permanent. I know this isn't the case in all situations and for some the laser has helped but I found that the laser actually made some of my hair worse. Its also more permanent than laser. The FDA wont allow the laser to be marketed as permanent hair removal.

I totally agree with that! Electroloysis was the only thing that worked for me; and it is permanent, quite expensive; but actually less in the long run because you won't have to go forever (like laser). My electroloysist charges approx $132 /hr (Canadian). Pretty pricy, but worth it! I feel so much better since I've had it done; I only go once a month now; and that's to work on other areas (besides my face). Definitely recommend saving for electroloyis. See if your endo / specialist you see knows of someone you could go to; that's how I got my electoloysist and knew that i could trust that it was a reputable company.

Good luck! must be nice having a boyfriend to pay for it! he's a keeper

I'm doing laser therapy right now on my chin and neck...we must have the same problem! The place I go to has a new laser system that actually has two lasers treating the area at the same time. I've only had one treatment so far and have noticed a HUGE improvememt! The total cost is $500 and I'm set up on a payment plan with the spa. Treatment is every six weeks with 6 treatments needed. My best friend did this first and has had huge success. She hated electrolysis, and from what we have both been told, electrolysis can scar the chin area.

So some of our medical clinics may perform laser hair removal as well?
