Default Getting more hair...considering laser treatment...

Hi everyone. Since I stopped Yasmin 8 months ago, it seems like I am growing hair everywhere. My arms, toes, legs and stomach have much more hair than usual. And I am noticing that the hair growing on those areas are also much more coarse. i can handle hair in those areas. it's my face i am most concerned about. my face- mostly mustache, chin and neck areas have SOOOO much hair. I have been having to pluck a lot more lately and it is making me REALLY depressed. I am seriously considering getting laser treatment. I have a few questions. 1) WHat is the difference between electrolysis and laser treatment? 2) Which is better? 3) What are the costs? 4) Are the results permanent?

Anyway, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...Kay

I think you'll find people arguing both sides when you ask which is better, electorlysis or laser. Costs would probably depend a lot on where you live and what the market looks like. The results are supposed to be permanent. Can't speak for electrolysis, but as far as laser goes, they're only permanent if you have your hormones under control so no new hairs are produced. I would assume the same goes for electrolysis too though.
I have now had six laser treatments and totally love the results. It's been a slow and sometimes painful experience, but it's certainly been worth every cent. Here's the link to my laser therapy account if you're interested. Laser Therapy - Account and Questions
Maybe others can help you out about electrolysis.

Basically, you've got to get your hormones right first, or nothing is going to be permanent. Electrolyisis is more permanent than laser, but doesn't work well when the hair has previously been plucked. If you've been plucking for years you might find better results with laser which is very much quicker and somewhat cheaper. Laser works best if your hair is dark and your skin light. Laser relies on the difference in color between your hair and your skin.
However you must get the hormones sorted out first.
You say you're most concerned about your face. That's understandable, since women are expected to have to shave our legs. But if your hormones are in the male range, then the moustache and beard growth is going to come back, no matter what you do.
For myself, my hormones are still in the male range and I'm quite happy shaving, using a top-of-range men's electric shaver.
