I am on disability, so electrolysis and laser is out of the question. Even waxing is more than I can afford. I guess Im just going to have to accept it, but I dont know how.... and the ironic thing is, if I didn't have this problem, but knew someone who did, I would tell them that appearances means jack and she should go outside more... I wouldnt care if someone else looked this way, but when it comes to myself, its really bothersome and I cant get passed it.
I barely go out side. I am so self conscious of my face and the stares are a lot to handle.
I am not exactly the friendliest person either. I guess I feel like people won't really like me because of this so I push them away. And what guy is going to date a girl with a beard? Seriously.

I guess this wouldnt be as bad if more people knew what PCOS is. Maybe they would be a little more understanding and not look at a woman with facial hair differently. Sometimes I wonder if people think Im actually a guy, trying to live as a girl! UGH. Sometimes I wish I was born with a boy, at least this wouldnt be an issue. |
First of all, a great many of us know how you feel, because we've felt the same way ourselves.
Secondly, stop reproaching yourself for having shaved at 17. Remember that there was a reason for you having shaved -- the hair was presumably already increasing and presumably that was what led to you shaving it off. In spite of what some people imagine, shaving doesn't increase growth -- if a man doesn't shave, he'll still grow a beard just as long and just as coarse as a man who has previously shaved.
Have you tried using a good-quality men's-type electric razor? I use a Philips Norelco which gives a very good result -- and I've been shaving since I was 13 and every day since I was 15.

What guy is going to date a girl with a beard? Seriously. I think the best answer to that is to look at the number of us here who are happily married to guys who are not in the least fazed by our beard growth. Granted, most of us remove our facial hair. Quite a number of us shave every morning, just like our DHs. I reckon that guys think very differently about the matter of facial hair on women -- it seems that for a lot of them, it's not so much
what may be there that bothers them, but that they should know the
facts about what there. We tend to be more bothered by the
appearance, they're usually more interested in knowing the
reality. I've often made the point that when my DH first met me when I hadn't shaved for 24 hours and had coarse mustache stubble clearly obvious, he claims he was actually very glad to see I had coarse mustache stubble, because he had thought from my figure -- or lack of it -- that I might be much too young for him to take an interest in. When he saw the coarse stubble he reckoned (rightly) that I must have been shaving my mustache for years and I must be a lot older than my figure would have led him to believe. So the only feelings that
he has ever had about my mustache are positive. That's what he says and I believe him. When my beard started to grow in he's never been negative about it. No-one forces him to nuzzle my bristly chin in the morning before we get up -- it's part of me and I think he likes the fact that I'm distinctive. I reckon it's his way of saying
I'm glad I'm married to you.
There are plenty of guys out there who are
not going to be put off by a girl having to shave every day. I'm not saying that there are no guys who will be put off -- but then there are some guys who are put off by tall girls and others put off by heavy girls and others put off by skinny girls and some put off by girls with dark hair and probably some even put off by blondes. No-one's going to be the ideal for every eligible male. But don't let the fact that it's not what every guy would find OK distract from the fact that there are plenty of guys for whom it would pose no problem at all.
