Talking getting started help?

Hi there! Thanks for being so helpful!! I was diagnosed with PCOS late last year, and I put off starting on Metformin until after the holidays...and here we are! I need some serious help in even where to start with the diet plans. I know that you girls are such pros now and your probably thinking...this girl knows nothing! But I literally do!! Can anyone point me in a direction of where I might be able to find some "diets" or food plans to follow until I find things that are good for me with being on Metformin? I tried to order/buy the books, but I can't find them in any of my book stores and to order them would take about 4-6 weeks, which I don't want to wait. So any help in pointing me in the right direction would be soooo much help!! Also..just to add insult to injury...I have a blood disorder which causes me to be on coumadin/anti-coagulants lifelong. Because of this medication, I can't eat a lot of green veggies...so I need to stay away from that if possible!! I'm a mess I know! Any help that you could give would be much appreciated!! Thanks for the support!

Welcome to Soul Cysters!
The IR Diet is pretty simple to follow. Basic steps (until you get the book) are:
1. for every 15 grams of carbs you consume, consume at least 7 grams of protein.
2. Only eat 30 grams of carbs in one sitting
3. wait two hours between meals and snacks

That could help you get started. If I were you, I would just concentrate on upping my protein. Many people here talk about low-carb, no-carb, etc. But I've found that instead of concentrating on the carb intake - I concentrate on the protein intake. Adding that to metformin and apple cider vinegar, I lost 35 pounds last year. I actually am not a huge fan of salads so for me the best way to get veggies is soup, which usually includes more than the green variety.
