Im trying (?!?!) to follow the low gi diet. i have good days and bad days and was just wondering if anyone else was doing it and had any tips/recipes/advice coz ive hit a standstill and actually gained 2 lbs last week after a weekend away - but i did have fun!!
Another problem i have is that i have a wheat intollerence so cant bake a lot of the stuf which i find recipes for. I would particularly like to hear if any of you have some quick and easy recipes/meal ideas coz the main times i seem to go off track is when im pushed for time.
Just thought there may be others out there who would like to chat/share ideas. I would really appreciate to hear from any of you.

I don't do bread, and I pretty much follow a modified low-carb only. However, when looking through the GI books I find most of the foods I avoid, they say to avoid. I eat fresh fruits, veggies (no potatoes), lean meats and dairy.
I use the GI way of life and it works really well for me. I call it a way of life because I don't class it as a "DIET" its is a change of lifestyle. I started off by reading the book a couple of times. I then threw away most of my fridge, freezer and food cupboard and started all over again so it was out with the crisps, biscuits, brown bread and tinned food and in with Stone ground bread, Columbus eggs and organic pasta. I guess it has worked for me because I've managed 4 stone so far and I'm really please. I no longer weigh myself as I can now just tell whether I've gone up or down. My energy levels are now naturally really good and I find myself wanting to do a hell of a lot more in my life.
As for going away, going out or having fun in general. Yes I go away, yes I go out down the pub and have fun (er yes I drink far too much hic! don't we all? ) you just need to look at menus and drinks in a slightly different way.... Have boiled rice instead of egg fried rice at your local Chinese
I take Met and Spironolactone regularly and have a Mirena coil fitted
Sorry if this posting sounds a bit big headed , it's not meant to be. I wish you all the luck in the world with your lifestyle change. PM me and I'll give you my mobile number if you would like a chat

yeah just to follow on from the last post if you are wheat intollerent then it would be best for yourself to follow the low-carb diet as apose to the low gi diet. obvioulsy aspects of the two can be combined but I personally would seek advice from a nutritionalist. See your doc and I am sure he will be happy to refer you to one via NHS.
good luck
