Thanks | I think thats the exact reason. There is no nutritional value to it. There is nothing in it to make you feel full.
That being said, I seriously doubt anyone has gotten fat from eating SF jello.

My Mood: Points: 7,793.78 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,793.78 | i read somwhere that to find a foods GI they literally feed it to x# of people and measure there glucose (?) before and afer ingesting it ... then take an average to get the gi # based on how much it raised their glucose. so there is no way to caculate it that i know of ....
as for the SF jello - I was wondering the same thing? it is usually a 'free' food on most diets?
also for any of you peanut butter lovers .... when I was on Weight Watchers I discovered a wonderful alternative to reg PB .. its called PB2 .. maybe you've heard of it? I have no idea the GI but its low on fat and carbs ... they basically ground peanuts and somehow get the oil out of them (fat) and then mix with salt and some sugar (they are suppose to come out with a SF one...) anyway its really good with like sliced apples etc ... you have to buy it online .. forget the site .. but google PB2 its something like bell plantation? anyway just passing on my info ... |

My Mood: Points: 5,930.37 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,930.37 | Regarding the SF Jell-O, I agree with Grape*Antler. I doubt its made anyone gain weight, but I remember reading something in Gallop's book about it. I believe it has to do with the fact that it is already so processed, and we are supposed to eat things that make our body work to digest the food (like old fashioned oats vs instant ect).
With that being said, if you were to have a 1/2 cup of it to replace the need for dessert or some other sweet craving every once and awhile I think it would be okay. But thats just my opinion.
Oh and if you added some peaches, strawberries, or any other favorite fruit it would bulk it up, get in some fruit and make it even healthier.

Hummous - GREEN | Thanks so much for your time and support, but I now see that I am really gonna struggle to do this diet here in Greece..... I can find 0% fat yoghurt here, but no fat free cheese, and no skimmed milk, or omega 3 eggs. No stone baked wholemeal bread, very rarely sweet potatoes and NEVER new potatoes. Well, maybe you can in Athens, but not here on Corfu island......
I will wait until my book arrives and see if there is something I can do re pairing the food types together.....
I will just try for now to cut down the 'bad' carbs.
Thanks again xx

(sorry to write it out that way apparently I don't have enough posts for a url). It has a GI/GL index for alot of different foods from all over the world. I don't know if any of the foods on the website are available to you but maybe it will help you a little bit.

what is this---> NGRGTMPcos .... ? a user name ? abbrevation for a book? It's a book (New Glucose Revolution Guide to Managing/Living Well with PCOS) that has been mentioned a few times on this thread (if you read all the way through) Amazon
It's not your everyday low gi book, but geared specifically to managing PCOS (that's why I'm here, not sure about everyone else), losing weight and boosting fertility with the glycemic index.
My response to the question regarding Special K was just that, a response based on additional information I had.

I hope I did not come off as snippy or anything... I know its hard when your just reading text! As with any diet .. we all have to do what works for us and what we can live with!
I will look into that book. . I am always looking for more information! I am finding some of the GI info is a bit contradicting here and there ... so again i think everyone can tweek things to work best for their situation! |

About the book - your best bet may be buying it online, I had a time finding it in stores. The man at Barnes and Noble couldn't find it for me, thank God I found it myself! It was like I wanted it RIGHT THEN and didn't want to wait for a book to be mailed like I normally do...just an FYI...

My Mood: Points: 5,818.85 Bank: 14,779.89 Total Points: 20,598.74 | Ok ladies, need some help here.
I maintained this week, no loss or gain. This is my fourth week on the diet. Besides on monday at a cookout (aaarrrghhhh) I was sooo very good diet wise. At said cookout I did have a small cheeseburger, no bun. I am sure that the burger was not extra lean, nor was the cheese FF. I also had a piece of smoked sausage. But thats it, no sides, nothing. I even brought crystal lite packs for water. Did I really blow my whole week at the cookout? I also stepped up my excercise this week. ????
Grrr...sorry to vent ladies. It's just that set my first goal as 10 lbs in May, and I missed it.
Have a nice weekend!
