I can't say for certain, but I think that a celiac diet can be adapted to a low GI. I generally stick to brown rice (lower GI load) and I know that you can get brown rice pasta. I prefer Tinkyada brand after a recommendation from a friend with celiac. You might want to check the program that you want to follow, but I don't think this is a problem.

My Mood: Points: 853.34 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 853.34 | Do you have celiac? I do love the tinkyada brand of pasta but I don't know about another diet this one sounds good but I have trouble loosing weight I tried slim 4 life last year and I only lost 10lbs and I was doing everything they told me to do I followed it to a T. I am going to get the book though and check it out I already eat really healthy b/c I have diabetes and celiac so my diet is so restricted already but my doc said I needed to lower my carb intake b/c my triglicerides were so high and they think its b/c of the gluten free diet and all the white rice flour in breads and stuff. Hopefully this will help sort things out for me...
Thanks,
Christy |

My Mood: Points: 4,966.48 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,966.48 | Hello my lovely cysters -
I am sick. YUCKY! my throat is raw and just breathing makes me want to cough. Luckily, I am working from home the rest of the week so i am hoping to take it easy and get some naps in throughout the days so I can be back to myself next week.
I went to the doctor yesterday about my never ending cold. He told me I need to lose weight. It was almost comical... do they really think that a girl who is 5'3 and wearing a size 18 doesn't KNOW she needs to lose weight??? I did take the chance to talk to him about the GI diet. He wasn't familiar but he said it sounded similar to the South Beach and it seemed like a solid plan.
I have not exercised at all this week because I feel so poopy, but I have some DVDs lined up for next week.
In other news, I have lost a total of 10 lbs. I think that is pretty awesome. I am so happy to have this thread and you ladies!

I have a confession. I haven't been eating well all week. I have had several things going on in my life where I've let myself take the back burner. A family member is in a coma as well as a good friend (unrelated events). Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Hopefully once things settle down a bit I can get back into the grove of things and restart the GI diet. In the mean time, I'll still be checking in with you ladies and keeping tabs on how you are doing. Keep up the good work!!!

I'm going to see if I can read some more today.

I know it doesn't belong here....but I know I can trust you ladies and someone would be able to help me!!
"Greetings ladies!!
In the past 5-6 days i've increased my Met from 500, to 1000.
I'm also on BC. Even before my BC, AF was normal. (Knew to the day for the past 6 years or so...besides when I had mono.) Even on the 500 of Met, she came the scheduled day every month.
AF is 3 days late now. Could this be the increase in Met? Should I be concerned?
BTW no chance of being prego."

And it did...but for yours to be late...I don't have anything to add to that. Sorry Laura, keep us posted on what you find out though!

I'm proud to say that I exercised today ! We bought DH a bike this weekend, and he's been riding with his brother and mom. Today I joined, and DH rode his bike while I walked/jogged along side him. I feel great! If I can keep this up...I'll be in shape and seeing some results soon!

My Mood: Points: 4,385.67 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,385.67 | Hi there!
I'm currently doing a low GL diet (Glyceamic load) but it's pretty much the same thing, based on GI, but the carbohydrates per serve are taken into account too. (They work it out and then give a number. So low GL is 10 or less) anyway, the site I am on doesn't seem to have any ladies with PCOS there, so I was hoping I could mingle here to see what works for ladies like us.
If you want nice recipes and menu plans etc, the site I use is www.dietfreedom.co.uk but sadly, you have to be a member (and pay) but the cost isn't too bad.
I've yet to see results, as I have only been doing it a couple of weeks, and had a bad few days thrown in. I'm back on track now, though... So wish me luck!
BTW... Laikola, I don't have an answer for you. I take 1500mg Met, but never get regular AF. I take the pill too, cos I am not ttc, and I'm a mess without it, but even with the pill, I'd be lucky to spot during the 'AF' week. Maybe your body is just adjusting? Maybe you had AF with no O, and your body is just getting ready to O and is kinda resetting your system? Dunno. Good luck, but don't worry too much.
