Default Ginseng. . .bad or good. . .I am so confused!

Ok, I just discovered that an herbal tea I have been drinking probably in excess has ginseng in it. I don't know if it has enough in it to make a difference but I was wondering if I should toss the stuff so I did a little research and now I am more confused than ever. Some things I read say that it's great for ttc (regulates hormones) others say it raises testosterone that's the last thing I need! Can anyone shed some light!

What sort of ginseng is in your tea? Siberian or Panax? Not that it particularly matters, but Panax ginseng is more contraindicated in pregnancy that siberian. I can see why you're confused because Ginseng has some very beneficial qualities that would be good for us (i.e. lowering blood sugar levels, reducing emotional and physical stress), but it is recommended not to take it when pregnant. I'd personally find it fine to take the tea in the first two weeks after af, but would avoid it after ovulation.

Thanks Deb. . .it actually doesn't say, it is just normal grocery store tea which is why I didn't check the label that carefully. If anything it's probably in "homeopathic quantities" as the Germans like to say . Good to know if anything I helped myself, not hurt. . .lower blood sugar is good! It actually almost sounds like I should add that to my pre-O mix, or take it during a shutdown cycle (which I am debating doing in the next couple cycles, as my current one is kind of weird with hard to interpret fertility signs).
Your ticker is so neat. . .you're in the 2nd trimester! Congratulations!

Thanks! Yeah, I still have days when I can't quite believe it! I'm feeling really quite good too, which is sooooooooo different from my first ivf pregnancy
