Default gluc XR vs regular gluc/met - re:weight

Hi -

Does anyone know if there is a difference in weight loss success between glucopage XR and regular glucophage or metformin (generic)?

Thanks!

Default You read my mind.

I was just wondering this myself. It seems I have gained weight since switching to XR. I am not even sure it is working at all. My man hair is growing in thicker than ever and it just palin hurts to even attempt to shave my legs. I am not sure what to think. I am going to give it a few more months to find out if it is just me or what. On top of weight gain the prescription for XR costs more than regular glucophage. Good luck with answers on this post. I appreciate you asking the question.

God bless and goodluck!

Wink Variety is the spice of life....

Ah, this is the fun of each woman with PCOS being a unique case. I am taking met, and it's working very well for me, but some cysters only had success with one drug versus another. If this isnt working for you, either have your dosage checked, or try another medication. Some of us started out on Gluc, and when the generic, metformin, came out we tried that because it was less expensive, but some of their symptoms came back or it didn't work as well for them. I got lucky- the met works for me, and I have lost weight. So, there are other options out there, you may just have to try another. Studies have shown that many women with PCOS really begin to see results when the dosage hits 2000mg/day. Hope this helps!
