I am currently at 2000mg of glucaphage xr. I noticed that most people are at 1500 mg is anyone this high?

I take 2000 mg of Met, but I am diabetic. Lately I am beginning to think I need a higher dose.

Btw, I have read that 1500 mg is considered the minimum effective dose.

Linda's right. Medical professionals for the most part consider the minimum effective dose to be 1500 mg. The maximum dose is 2550 mg a day since the risk of lactic acidosis goes up significantly on higher doses.

Generally physicians try to put you on the lowest dosage that helps your bloodwork...so for some that's 1500 and others it's more depending on how sensitive their bodies are to chemical changes.

So anywhere between those two doses is totally acceptable. Hope that helps.
