Question Glucophage, Cincinnati, Ohio Doctor

Is there anyone in the Cincinnati, Ohio area who could recommend a doctor who WILL prescribe glucophage for PCOS even if you are not trying to conceive? I am a cyster and so is my sister. I have been taking glucophage for awhile and I am under the treatment of Dr. Glueck. My sister also has PCOS and is very overweight, about 350lbs. She was told by her doctor who treated her endometrial hyperplasia with a D&C that she "just needs to lose weight" and that "I will only put you on glucophage if you are trying to get pregnant." We have a strong family history of type II diabetes. It is angering me that she cannot get proper treatment because of some idiot's bias. She cannot go to Glueck because he is not covered under her insurance, BCBS Blue Access. The labs alone would cost thousands each visit. Really. I added mine up on my insurance statement and it was nearly 2600 for one visit's lab work. Anyway, does anyone out there know of anyone else in the Cincinnati, Ohio area? Thank you in advance. Rose

Doctor's can be such idiots...

I am from Kentucky also. Just a little south of were you are. I go to Lexington at the "Kentucky Diabetes and Endocrinology Center." I see Dr. Wendell Miers. I really like him. He prescribed Glucophage immedietely upon looking over my test results...and I'm not trying to conceive. He is very accessible. I have emailed him several times with questions and concerns and he has always gotten back with me. I know it's a little bit of a drive but I think it's well worth it.

The website for more information is http://www.kyde.com/index.html

Under "Administration" it gives just a few of there insurance carriers they accept.

"Insurance Carriers

Our physicians are participating providers for Medicare, Medicaid, Anthem BCBS, CHA Health, UHC (United Health) and Bluegrass Family Health, among others. Our staff will be happy to advise you of our provider status with your particular insurance carrier. "

I hope that Anthem BCBS is what your sisters insurance is.

If you have any questions or need more information please let me know.
