Can you take Glucophage on a empty stomach like before breakfast? Just wondering if I can take it without it bothering my stomach. I forgot what my Endo said about it.

I wouldn't recommend it. I know everyone is different. I did that once. ONCE. it made me soooo sick.

Can you take Glucophage on a empty stomach like before breakfast? Just wondering if I can take it without it bothering my stomach. I forgot what my Endo said about it.
I have to take mine in the middle of the meal or I really suffer. I eat a few bites, take the met, then finish what I'm eating.
Lately for me it's been hit or miss if I take it on an empty stomach. Sometimes I end up vomiting about 1.5 hours later; other times it doesn't bother me at all. Everyone is different, but I recommend taking it with food or at least a glass of milk. I didn't really have many problems taking it that way (once I got used to taking it!)

Thanks everyone I usually take it with food. I guess thats the reason why. LOL. I try to take it right after breakfast 1000mg and after dinner 1000mg. I am thinking about upping my does to 2500 and taking a pill at lunch. What is everyone's dose?

Not sure if it's because my body has pretty much made the adjustment to it, but I started taking mine on an empty stomach, because I felt like my stomach was a volcano about to erupt each time I ate and then took the pill. It doesn't seem to bother me now so much. I don't know if it's ok to take without food for other reasons, though. I'm going to ask my endo at my next appt.

I've been able to take mine on an empty stomach, but I'm only taking 500 in the morning and 500 at night, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I've been able to take 1000mg on an empty stomach in the evening, just before supper, but NOT before breakfast. Unless I take the pills, then eat immediately afterwards. If I dont, I screw up my whole day and get sick.

I can take 1000mg on an empty stomach with no side effects but I've been taking it over 2 years. I don't usually take it that way. I take it before breakfast and then eat within 15 - 30 minutes. There is a risk it might drop your blood sugar too low if you take it and don't eat for several hours.
