Ok cysters, can anyone else tell me if all these testosterone stopping drugs have also done a number on your crown area? I had thick hair! My crown is thinning out and I am scared. The lower part of my hair is fine. I am also resistant to coloring. What gives? I read some unofficial comments about Gluc and some women have claimed this. I have discontinued it. I am frankly sick of being sick. We're all friends here. I can't take the diahrrea (sp). I know Gluc XR is better was on that before but the nasty effects and near fatal side effects made me decide to try a natural approach. I'm now attempting a good meal plan system and a One a day for women along with 100mg of B6. I have also been seriously nasty with PMS. There has to be another way to deal with this.

Hard to choose which one of the symptoms is the worst...the years of infertility, looking like the bearded lady at the circus, having no energy to play with my kids, going from a healthy active person to gaining 43% of my body weight..it all pretty much stunk.
Jenny: Sorry you've had a rough time with the met. I hadn't had any hairloss issues, and don't have on any on met, so I hope you can find the right treatment for you. Have you asked your Dr about some of the other insulin-senitizers (avandia or actos)? There are also things like Chromium GTF, vitex, etc that might help. Met helps many of us given time, but it isn't the right answer for everyone.
Good luck!

I too have a thinning problem but Met/Gluc is not the one behind it. Ever since taking Metformin I notice periods of no shedding and then periods of what appeared to me as intense shedding. Your working with hormones my friend and they are not always an easy thing to alter or adjust. Many things are in play here within your body as you progress with medication and it takes time. Once your body adapts to the Metformin or Gluc it then must build up before you begin to see results. Many women are frightened or simply dont want to deal with the side effects that take place in the begining so they stop taking the medication and never see the benefits of long term treatment. There are other natural treatments you can take along side of Metformin to aide or assist in slowing down the shedding one such item is saw palmetto it is the number one ingredient in the mens prescription drugs for hair loss it blocks DHT but manufactures dont want us to know this otherwise that fancy drug they take wont be worth a hoot if you knew you could get over the counter. I take two capsules daily and my shedding has slowed down. But with PCOS and hair loss you must begin a care regiment that's very different from what you do now. Change is the key word here and many women simply dont want to embrace it. You have to change how you eat, how you care for your hair, how you wash it and with what, how you brush it and so forth so many women simply wont do it. They'd like a mircle pill to pop and it will just come back 2x thicker..it wont. But it will grow back...mine is but its slow and sometimes a new style or cut helps you get through the inbetween phase as did I...
I had hair loss due to PCOS. I also had thick hair but over the years it just gets worse. When i was on Clomid for about eight months I did notice it getting thicker. I have now started on Met and am hoping it will again get thicker. I have not heard that Met makes you lose your hair but I am new to this. I know it stinks.... everything about PCOS stinks! I hope you find your answer!
I was discovered as having PCOS in 1986. I was told to go to this specific OBGYN. He told me he could get rid of it in one year. He put me on birth control. After the year he stop the treatment. And my PCOS was gone and I got pregnant. Since then he delivered my 3 children and I owe him everything. It took 7 doctors before him to even diagnose it. I'm taking Glucophage now, I have been taking it for 14 years. 14 years ago my hair started to thin. It hasn't gotten better. It just stayed very thin.

I had the same exact problem, I lost a lot of my hair due to PCOS. It was really thick and now 5 years later its very thin. I just started Met and I was told by my doctor that it should help my hair to get thicker. I hope so!
