I had to move up to 1500 mg a day, and diet and exercise to get af regularly. Hope that helps

Welcome. Met works differently for everyone. Maybe your doc could increase your dose?

I have been on the generic metformin for over a month now and still have not had AF. I have had a few women tell me it could take up to 6 months to get it. I started out at 500 mg for 2 weeks, then increased to 1,000 mg for 2 weeks and I am now on 1,500 mg and am almost done with week 2 of that dose. I would give it more time and then talk to your doctor about it.

I've been on 2000 for about 6 months. I eat very well and exercize regularly, but I still have very irregular AF. Everyone's body is different, you have to find out what works for you.

I will also be starting 2000mg next week, I'm on 1000mg now. I am concerned that this is a high dose he is starting me on. Anyone else taking 2000mg? Can you take higher?

For some 1000 is low. I 've been taking 2000mg for yrs. THinking of upping it to 2250. That's the highrest I've heard of someone being on.
SO, I think 1000-2000 is acceptable!!

1500mg a day is said to be the lowest effective dose for people with PCOS. I would ask for an increase. I have been on 2000mg and I still never get AF without Provera
