Question Glucophage vs. Metformin

Hi everyone! I'm new to these boards - and very happy to see that I'm not the only one with all of the PCOS related issues!

My doctor had me on 2000 mg of Glucophage XR for about a year. A couple months ago I called in a new prescription and was given Metformin. I had my insulin levels tested twice since then and they were elevated. I'm wondering if the elevation could be due to changing to Metformin.

Did anyone else notice a change in their insulin levels between using the brand vs. generic?

Thank you!

I am on Metformin/Glucophage and i dont find any difference between them as they are the same drug. When i get my prescription sometimes i get a box of Metformin other times i have a box of Glucophage, depends on what they have in stock at the time. My results are the same on either of them.

Default Make sure both are XR

Glucophage/Metformin (same drug) comes in either XR (extended release) or non extended release. Make sure they are still giving you the extended release ones. My pharmacy used to mix themup all the time and it makes a BIG difference.

Metformin is just the genericy name.

Good Luck.
