Glucophage XR and major headaches???

Hi everyone,

I just started Glucophage XR and have been on 500 mg for 5 days. No real stomach problems but I have an extremely severe headache that won't go away! It feels like someone smashed my head with a hammer and I have a lot of pressure in my head. I also feel very weak. I am eating enough and I am checking my sugar and it isn't low. But I don't know how much longer I can take this (headache) and I want to be able to take the Gluco XR. I have to go up to 2500 mg that is how severe my insulin resistance is. I have been taking Midrin for the headaches 3x daily and it isn't helping.

Can anyone offer any advice, help or suggestions. Will it maybe go away once I increase the medicine?

I really want to stay on this medicine because I have to lose this weight. I have never been this heavy before and I can't deal with it.

Have you changed your eating habits? If you have been cutting out the carbs, you might not be eating enough, and if you are not then you might be eating too many! I know I had a few major headaches when I first started glucophage... believe me they will pass! How often do you increase your dose? It could be just your body trying to adjust to its new found friend... stick with it, you'll be happier in the end. Also, remember glucophage is not a miracle drug you will have to work at losing weight, diet and exercise!
