Default Glucose monitor?

Hi all.
I have been thinking about buying a glucose monitor but I'm a bit on the fence about it so I thought I'd ask you ladies. Do any of you have them and think that they are good? Or do any of you think they are a waste for IR?

Thanks I'd appreciate any advice!!

I have one because when I took Met the first time around my sugar would drop too low...

the meter itself if cheap about $17...its the strips that cost $$$$$$$ but if you only test once a day they would last you about a month and a half

You don't even have to buy one, you can go to most sites and get one free. I will post some links for you. Just fill out the info, put down that you are diabetic, just diagnosed and you will get a monitor in a couple weeks.

Like the previous post said, the monitors are not costly (that is why so many companies give them away for free), it is the testing strips that are pricey. That is one of the main reasons they give them out for free, because they hope you will buy (or get an Rx for) their strips.

This one here is nice and small. They have nice colors to choose from.

This one is nice also:

I have one of these, not sure which one, have not used it yet:

I have this one and like it a lot, I use it every day, does not require any coding and the strips come in a disc of 10 so you don't have to handle them. If I am not mistaken though, in order to get this one free, you need an rx from the Dr and then you take it to the pharmacy with a coupon. (the ones above do not require an rx)

I am diabetic and I have never paid for a meter. I actually have brand new meters sitting in boxes that I plan to donate. It never fails that when I go to the Drs office the give me a new one. I also get them when my clinic has diabetic health fairs.
