Exclamation glucose tolerance test?

Hi Ladies,
I have a question about my glucose tolerance test, I wanted to see if anyone knows anything about the results. The nurse called me and left me a message saying the doctor wouldn't be in till friday for my results. BUT that my first two blood tests for this came back normal, BUT my final came back at 210, and the doctor would let me know what that meant. Another nurse called me back friday and said the doctor said the test was fine. Now of course I've done the research on the test as soon as I got the first call. Everything I read says 210 is high. I'm kinda worried that this doctor is blowing me off. Anyone know anything about this tests ? is this normal?
Thanks alot,
Carol

I had a glucose test done last year, my result was a level of 181 and the doctor said that I would be considered pre-diabetic. She used the term impaired glucose tolerance.

My doctor told me that 200 and over would be considered diabetic. So I wouldn't consider 210 normal, I would either go see the doctor and talk about your concerns or if possible, get a second opinion. You should be getting proper treatment from your doctor, with my level I got a referal to a dietician; you should get at least that.

Good luck.

My GTT after 2 hours was 154 and I was told I was in a pre-diabetic state.

Here is a website I found that might answer your questions:

http://www.labtestsonline.org/unders...cose/test.html

I would talk to your Dr and see if he wants to run an HbA1c. That is a blood test that measures an average over about 3 months.

I agree with what JanelleMarie is saying. I too was referred to a dietician.

Good Luck

Thanks ladies, that really helps, I thought maybe I was being crazy. I'm gonna call on monday and request a copy of the results and take them some where else.
Thanks again!
