Red face Gluten and PCOS

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and, fortunately, do not have many of the symptoms (yet). My biggest issue is weight loss. I lost a lot of weight on weight watchers and have since gained it back. When I spoke to my doctor about it, her advice was to cut gluten and dairy. I get the dairy thing...there are often a lot of added hormones in dairy and there is a protein in dairy that can wreak havoc on hormones as well. But I'm not sure about the gluten. From everything I've seen, low carb diets are a better option, but gluten doesn't necessarily seem to be the direct issue. Has anyone else heard this? I don't have an allergy to gluten or dairy, so that's not the issue. Any thoughts would be helpful! Also, can someone explain what some of the acronyms are from this site are? TTC, BCP, DH, that sort of thing.

Well both of my best friends are gluten free... well mostly...

Neither have PCOS but one is diabetic and recently had gastric bypass...
the other has lost wieght between the no gluten and eating every 6 hours... her cystic acne has cleared up and both report no more gas issues after certain foods...

SOOO I have been thinking about it, I am such a carb addict though I don't know how faithful I can be... LOL....

I also don't have many PCOS symptoms and am trying to loose weight. I get an occasional stray hair (gross) and I am 25 and still do get acne occasionally. I can tell you what has worked for me personally, but I would suggest maybe searching out a bariatric Dr. in your area. I also participated in WW, but it wasn't for me. The Core system seems wonderful, but I just can stomach paying for someone to tell me what to eat (I already know!). Anyway, people often say that they have a hard time cutting carbs when they want to loose weight. I don't particularly think Atkins or South Beach are all that beneficial, but some of the principals are. The gluten thing suprises me somewhat since you have no allergy. I think you'd find MUCH more success with a low GI diet. Its super easy, you don't have to count anything, you can have cheese, I eat pickles, sugar free jello and popsicles, low carb protien shakes, tons or fish, chicken, steak and fruit andveggies. I can give you a more comprehensive menu if you want, but I would suggest avoiding eating out - its kinda gross what restaurants do to healthy stuff to make it taste "good". Good Luck!
