Lightbulb God's Will for my Life

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to figure out what God's Will is for my life and would like for you to keep me in your prayers. Here is a little background information. I was working at hospital as a Family Advocate right after college graduation. Although it wasn't considered a ministry I really felt like God was using me. My job duties included answering all "Code Blues" in the hospital, keeping families updated on loved one's surgeries, and helping families of trauma victims in the ER among many other things. Needless to say it was very stressful but also very rewarding. Last fall I was dx with a large ulcer and my dr wanted me to move closer to home (2 hours away) so he could treat me better. I left my job at the med center and followed his advice. I'm now feeling a strong calling to go back and work there. I can not find anything remotely similar in the Knoxville are. I have a call into my old supervisor to see if there are any openings. When I left, they told me if I wanted to come back they would hire me after 6 months. I have also wanted to get my Master's since I graduated last May. My undergrad is in Criminal Justice but I've decided that's not what my Master's should be in. I am considering getting my master's in counceling...dual license in marriage and family therapy and school counseling. Right now I just want to follow God's Will for my life. I am willing to make the sacrifices needed, but I want to make sure its for the right reason. I know you all are prayer warriors. If you don't care, could you please say a prayer asking God to show me His Will. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you all! I'm sorry this is kinda long winded. =)

Bethany

Hi, Bethany (my favorite name, by the way!)

I will definitely be keeping you in prayer. It really seems like God has blessed you with a love for helping people and whatever He chooses for you, I am so grateful for people like you. The world needs compassion and love. So many people are suffering, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Good luck, dear and keep us posted.

Kathryn

Hi Bethany,
I too keep striving to do God's will, can I share something with you? Something I reflect on for strength:
[A prayer by David] "Deliver me up from my enemies, O Jehovah. I have taken cover even with you. Teach me to do your will, For you are my God. Your spirit is good, May it lead me in the land of uprightness." Psalms 143:9,10
"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Rev. 21:4
"Beloved ones, let us continue loving one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and gains the knowledge of God. He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love." 1 John 4:7,8
Scriptures quoted from the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures
Bethany, I admire the strength you have to help others cope with their loss and the love that inspires you...

Another really good resource that I am currently going through with our church is a book by Rick Warren called "The Purpose Driven Life". I think it's still pretty high on the best seller list right now as well. So far I have been totally blessed by each days. It's intention is for you to go through a chapter a day, like 10 mins of reading, for 40 days. He points out that God accomplishes a lot of things in 40 days. From Noah and the flood, 40 days of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by Satan, there's quite a few more that I am just not remembering right now.
Finding your purpose in life will help you hear God's will for your life. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Bethany, one of the things that I have learned in my walk is that sometimes you have to step out in faith. If you feel peace with what you are doing, keep praying about it, and (usually) that is the way you are to go. If this is not the path God wants you to take, you will know in your heart.

Good luck!

Thank you all so much for your advice and prayers. I have sent an email to my old boss asking her if there are any openings. I am just waiting now to see what happens. If it is God's Will all of the right doors will open. I'm just putting my trust in Him. Thank you again!

Thumbs up

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to give you an update on what's going on. Right now there aren't any openings at the hospital for my old job, but they said as soon as one comes up they will call me. I have decided to definitely go back to school in the fall and get my Master's in Counseling. It turns out the scholarship for my undergrad school is also going to pay for grad school!!! I really feel God's hand in this. He has been closing doors all along while opening the windows he wants me to go through. I am still trying to find a job that will work around school. I'm sure that will open up too. Things are getting hectic trying to get enrolled, find a job, and a new place to live, but its going to be exciting too. Thank you all so much for you prayers and words of wisdom. Its such a good feeling to know that people are joining you in prayer. If you ladies ever need anything please don't hesitate to ask!!

Love in Christ,
Bethany

I am so happy for you!

I thought you all may like this. I recieved it in a fwd. e-mail:

What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?

Answer - Psalms 117

What is the longest chapter in the Bible?

Answer - Psalms 119

Which chapter is in the center of the Bible?

Answer - Psalms 118

There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118.

There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118.

Add up the 594 plus 594, and you get 1188.

What is the center verse in the Bible?
Answer - Psalms 118:8

Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our lives?

The next time someone says they would like to find God's perfect will for their lives and that they want to be in the center of His will, just send them to the center of His Word!

Psalms 118:8 (NKJV) "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."

Now isn't it amazing how this worked out (or was God in the center of it)?

My prayer for you, Bethany:

Father God bless Bethany in whatever it is that you know she may be needing this day! And may Bethany's life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as she seeks to have a closer relationship with You. Amen.

God bless you all!
In Christ's Love,

Lisa
