Heading to a new doctor Wednesday. Supposed to be really good at listening and really figuring out the symptoms and not just looking at labs. So I am very hopeful. Anyway, being that I have had an increase in TSH and I have tons of symptoms of hypo...I am hoping the new doctor will help. What I would like to know is....is there anything I need to do, say different, whatever to prepare for this visit?
I will say that I have all my labs ready to give to the doc, I have a symptom chart over the past several months (yep I am really organized and love spreadsheets, LOL), and I have a word document with family history. Do you think this is enough? Or do you think I need to take anything else with me?
I just really want this appointment to work in my favor this time. You know?!? Just tired of feeling bad all the time. Thank you in advance.

What are your TSH/T3/T4 levels? Have you ever had your Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab tested? That level clued my endo in that I had a problem, cause it was sky high - meaning I've got tons of antibodies fighting against my own thyroid. So maybe ask for that test if you've never had it done before.

My TSH is 3.75 (.3-3.0), my free T3 is 4.77 (1.8-4.2) and my free T4 is 1.46 (.8-1.9). No, the doctor I had before when I had this testing didn't even think to check antibodies. I will definitely ask about that test. I had read a few days ago that a diseased thyroid can produce high levels of T3 and normal T4. Wondering now if this is the case with me. Thank you for your help.

I don't think BCP will affect your results. I've been on BC for the past 13 years.
I'm wishing you lots of luck! I'm supposed to get my adrenal blood results back tomorrow (which reminds me - you should have your adrenal function checked too). I think my thyroid treatment is somehow dependent on that...so here's hoping he'll do SOMETHING. Or if he won't, perhaps my GP will - I'm seeing her tomorrow too.
