Default Going quicker than I thought it would...

Dh and I are adopting through BCS
and we just mailed out Formal application on
Saturday- and Monday- we got the phone call
from a social worker- to set up our homestudy
March 16th- then a week later our 2nd visit-
in a restuarant. then she'll type it up-
she told us yesterday- that to expect to pick up
our child in 6-8 months!

Am I dreaming- can she be right?
This is so fast- I'm so happy- if it's true!

we know her- her husband married us- (minister)
but only met her once before- in church when we
asked her about adoptions- and she told us about
Bethany- and we went there- and she's contracted
out as a SW- if they're too busy- they're not- we just
requested her since she's help us- so much already!

what a nice bday gift (march 18th!) then a christmas
present!!!!!!

Don't want to get my hopes up too high though-

better start getting things taken care of-
I have my physical on tuesday- dh is on the 17th-
and taking pictures of us and our house. the getting the state seal of everything that needs it- we have all of our references- certificates- etc... already taken care of- we started collecting everything- then relized we didn't turn in the formal application- opps-...

jen-duck !

Thats FANTASTIC !!

What country are you adopting from ? I know Guatemala is quite fast for American families so I am guessing there ? Or are you going domestic ? (Sorry if you posted this info b4 I am a bit behind)

And we were told the 6-8 month mark we could go pick up our son too !! It seems so soon ! LOL !

Less than a pregnancy if you can imagine that !!

Looking SO forward to hearing all your updates and GOOD NEWS !!

CONGRATS AGAIN !!!!

Congrats!!! If you are adopting from Guatemala, yes, you can have your baby home that fast. It doesn't always happen, but it can.

The middle of March will be 6 months since homestudy for us, and we are already in the last step. (PGN) If all goes well, we could have our baby by Easter.

Good luck to you, and keep us posted,

sorry ladies-

Yes, you're right- Guatemala is where we are adopting from.
Our first homestudy visit is March 16th- then she said 7-10 days we'll finish it- meeting halfway in a resturant- to do the 2nd visit- then she'll type it up- and we'll be done- by the end of March- ...

I'm so excited to think that before I go back to work (september)- I'm a music teacher. that I won't be going back- for 6 weeks- a longer summer break then dh will take 6 weeks off- then it will be just in time for all the winter breaks- and CHRISTMAS-

It was such a difficult xmas this past year- looking at all the baby things- in the store- and seeing mother's/father's get angry at their children because they we're mad at them shopping- it was just so hard- and I 've been praying that we would be able to have our child before next christmas so we could share our love- and be a forever family- with some child- our child- you know?

How long was it for everyone- when you got done with homestudy- that you had a referral- so you had a picture/idea of your child? a month? more/less?- it would be so nice to know- what my child will look like- you know?

thanks for the support- I'll keep you posted!

Jen

Sounds like things are moving along very well for you. Once we got our INS clearance it was 6 weeks until we got our referral , and we traveled to Guatemala 5 months later. The second time it was faster - we received the referral the DAY after INS clearance and traveled 5 months later.

Good luck and I hope that things continue to move this smoothly for you.
