I was diagnosed in Feb of this year with PCOS. I have been researching alternative remedies for the past couple months now and I think I am ready to start. My DH is going on a 6 month deployment in a couple weeks and when he gets back we want to start having children. So I really want to be fertile and healthy when he gets back this fall.
I want to lose about 30 pounds or more if I can through exercise and a low GI diet. I also want to start taking herbs and supplements because metformin made me sick and I rather use natural methods.
I already take Zoloft everyday for depression and anxiety. I have just started taking a multivitamin and a Calcium/Vitamin D pill. Here is what else I am thinking of adding to my daily routine:
-Chromium
-B Vitamin complex
-Magnesium
-Cinnamon
-Fish Oil
-Vitex
What do you think? Does this sound like a good combination? Any suggestions?
My symptoms are irregular periods, weight gain, trouble losing weight, some acne, some extra hair but not enought that it is a problem, some Acanthosis nigricans, ovarian cysts, a couple skin tags, fatigue, depression, anxiety, insomnia and trouble sleeping, dry skin, sebhorric dermatitis on scalp, frequent urination, and thats all i can think of right now.
Thanks!

I can personally speak for the B complex and magnesium being great for fatigue and depression. I take my magnesium at night to help me sleep, and b complex during the day. I prefer flax oil over fish oil, and it has been awesome. Brought my cholesterol down 40 points with no diet changes.
Looks like a good list to me, hope you do well with it.

Rather than flax oil, you may consider doing the actual flax meal (ground flax seed). It has a great taste, is very filling, and is said to have many more health benefits. There are several threads here about it.
I am taking hyponidd as an alternative to metformin. There is a thread about that as well. Otherwise you look like you are doing good. What dosages are you taking?

Sounds like we were diagnosed around the same time. I'm taking the below (in my signature) and am waiting to see if its working. I'm considering going off the YAZ a month earlier than I planned (April instead of May) since I'm concerned it might take longer to get regulated than expected ( I wanted to conceive in August). I'd love to know what you decide.
Sounds good! Im doing a similar thing..gone off all meds and going herbal. In addition to what you are taling im also taking Neem tablets for my acne and have seen wonderful results, but from my research I can vouch that it will most likely help the dermaititis as well. I'll post a link below.
I also have major anxiety and trouble sleeping, and have just started making a tea from Oatstraw that I drink once or twice a day and really does help!
