I'd like to start taking fish oil after reading some of what Kat has posted recently about omega 3's helping women with PCOS. What are the best brands or doesn't it matter? I've heard that it's possible for some brands to be less pure or even rancid depending on how long they sit on shelves. Is this true or are they all pretty much alike? Any suggestions???

If you want to research some back issues of Consumer Reports, you will find that the Kirkland Brand at Costco has a great fish oil. I believe it was rated for its purity, but I am not sure. I just remember that it was highly rated and a great deal.
By the way, if you are just starting to look for some fish oil to take, I have to tell you the "lemon" flavor is really a bunch of hooey. That said, if you like the taste of lemon on fish you probably could manage to swallow a teaspoon!

Carlson's has a very slight lemon essense, and I quite like it. To me, it simply tastes like 'oil'. If no one told me it was fish oil, I would never know.
I found this while surfing the web. It may be helpful to others. It gives a list of fish oil brands and whether they are contaminated with mercury or an incomplete source of fish oil.
