Ok, the good news is ,( well good for me.... lol ) AF finally came to visit, after over a year of nothing, she rears her ugly head. Somebody told me to get ahold of my gyno to see if she will put me on BC, to help regulate me, and help shring the cysts..... Well two weeks ago i tried to call her becuase i was having terrible cramps, so bad i was crying. and all i got was the answering machine, at 10am. hung up and tried at 2pm answering machine again..... left a message, and NOONE called me back, then This sunday AF came, i talked to my friend yesterday about this, an thats when she told me about the BC thing... i tried my gyno again and NOTHING so now i have an appointment with my family doctor, Can they prescibe BC? when i was younger i got it from the free clinic...so i dont know. The point of this is, Will the BC help straighten my visits out? and will it help shrink the cysts? and help with the other symptoms, (hair growth etc? ) When i was young like 14 i had a cyst that was almost the size of a golfball. and the doctor just drained it, i was told by my current gyno that he should of prescribed me BC then, and it would of helped. If he would of would i be in the boat i am in now?
Ok sorry for such a long post, im just courious......
I'm not sure if bc will shrink cysts, but it will DEF help to regulate your cycles.
I've been on bc for 4 years now and my cycles are regular as clockwork, without it I only had AF visit once every 6-9 months.
I talked to my gyn yesterday and he said that it is very important for pcos gals to be on bc or something similair that will help regulate your cycles. this is to prevent excess testosterone building up in your system (that causes hair growth ect).
So I would say def ask your GP/family doc to prescribe it for you ~ my gp does and I'm sure any family doc will be able to.
Hope it helps!

~I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once~
The BC pills really help me. Believe it or not I don't have as much pain. Just be sure you get the right pill. I was put on a pill when I was 17 for missed af's. The pill had too much of the male hormone and that is when everything went out of control. I have noticed my hair growth is less when I am on the pill. If you can't get in touch with your GYN I would probably find another dr. Did the answering machine give you options like press this number for this question or that question? Sometime they are busy and rely on the machine to direct calls. If it does not get resolved soon I would find another dr. You want one you can rely on. I can call mine on Sunday morning and he calls me back.
:hug; to you.

How do you know if a bcp has too many male hormone. I was just put on ortho tri-cyceln lo and now I'm scared about this hormone thing since I have real bad facial hair and I now have it under some control by lazer treatments.
BC will definitely regulate af. how well depends on the pill you take, and it can take a while to find the right one for you. i've been on different pills on and off for about three years now and i've learned the importance of the difference between different pills thru trial and error. some are stronger than others and can have some extremely unpleasant side-effects for some people. However, it'll be perfect for others. Others are very weak and can have little effect, again for some people. then there are the in-between ones, that, again affect everyone differently. Basically, you are going to need a supportive doctor who is willing to help you find the right one for you. Some people find the right one straight away, some (like yours truly) take a while.
As i understand, the pill will definitely regulate AF, but your AF isn't a true period - it's breakthrough bleeding. it can't be a true period because you're not ovulating. but - as i understand it - that means that you don't produce any more cysts. But then again it doesn't get rid of them either (i think). regarding facial hair some work better than others. i've had some that have completely reduced all excess hair, but one that was useless. but then that one didn't even regulate my af properly.
basically, bar one that was absurdly weak for me, all the others reduced my excess hair, acne, pms and menstural pain/cramps. The one that i took that was too strong for me (funnily enough i've been put on it again - different name, didn't realise and am getting off it asap) gave me chronic nausea (not eleveated by anything) for three weeks of my cycle and then chronic headaches for the rest of it.
I don't really want to name what did and didn't work for me as it varies from person to person. i personally don't like the idea of being on bc unnecessarily for too long, especially since i've been told by every doctor that's ever treated me to come off it after two years if i'm only taking it for medical concers as your body can work out how it's supposed to be working. But God knows. i'm only taking it because of the pcos and would therefore rather try something else for the long term. i just want to be able to do what most girls my age have always been able to do: ovulate every month resulting in af NATURALLY. but, my af hasn't come very painfully for a while.
Anyway, sorry for going on and on and on. i hope something i've said has been helpful to you, and i'm sure your family doctor can give you bcp.
Good luck,
Lots of love,
Sarah

Well my family dr. did prescribe me bc. he put me on Ortho tricyclen lo ... More good news, and i dont understand how, but im down 42lbs. I started to work out right after newyears, on and off somtimes i would just lose the interest in the same routine,,, and really didnt start anything new. then i had surgery on my foot and have been laid up with that for just about two months. anyhow before my surgery i was down to 272 (that is so embarrasing...) and now im down to 256 when i started this all i was 298, i cant tell.. i mean it dont seem to feel anydifferent and i still fit my jeans, but anyhow, i really hoping this wieght loss will keep up, and that my periods with the help of bc, will continue on, .. as much as af really sucks,,, it still gives me the sense of feminity... something that i dont feel very often....
