Just returned from the ob/gyn, with a new prescription for Yasmin (so I'm re-reading all of those posts

). Until now, my insurance wouldn't cover BCP's unless I had a letter from the dr. stating that the pills were NOT to prevent pregnancy. (Yet they covered Viagra!!! Don't get me started.) So I asked for the magic letter...and the NP said I didn't need it.
As of January 1st, 2003, all insurance companies in New York that offer prescription coverage MUST COVER BCP's TOO, no matter what the "reason!!!" The new legislation was recently signed into law.
HOORAY!!! At least there's one thing we won't have to worry about now.
So if you still live in a Neanderthal state where The Powers That Be decide whether or not you have a good enough reason to use BCP's , start writing to your elected officials...things can change!!!
Happy days,
Barb
