Just got a call from RE office and got my test results back.( I was tested for any type of immunilogical problems that might be causing my losses.) The RE office says everything is "normal". Normal is usually good, but I just started bawling after I hung up. Why can't we figure out what is WRONG with me? I have an HSG scheduled for later on in the month, but I'm guessing they won't find anything there either. Am I just supposed top keep getting PG and losing babies? I don't know how many M/C's I have left in me! My heart breaks a little more every time I lose another baby.

Oh Ann, I am SO sorry. I can see why you would be upset. You have earned the right to cry and be sad. I know that angeleyes_1975 had the same experience - perhaps she can shed some light on the situation for you.
Ann, I'm so sorry that they don't know what's wrong. It makes perfect sense that you are upset.
((((hugs))))

I agree that no news isn't good news in this case. The most important thing for me to know after losing my baby was how I could carry to term and hold a living child in my arms. This kind of information today was useless in that way. I hope that you find something out or are somehow fortunate enough that your next little one sticks like glue. Have you been tested for clotting disorders? I just don't know what other haystack to look under.
I'm sorry this was a sad day!! ((Hugs!))

((Ann)). I'm so sorry. Are there RPL specialists? Maybe you could go to one of them. There's GOT to be a reason the RE's not finding.
I hope you have answers soon. I understand how badly you need answers!

Ann - one more thought that occurred to me this morning - did your RE test for "natural killer cells"? My RE skipped that test, for whatever reason. That's thought to be a cause of RPL when docs can't find anything else wrong. Especially in woman who have had endometriosis - haven't seen you mention that, but my OB's nurse had NK cells and never had endo, so it's not necessarily a deciding factor.
I don't think I have been tested for the natural killer cells. I may have to check. I got the feeling that the RE thought testing for the immunilogical problems was needless. He basically said that I was just more prone to M/C because of PCOS. So, am I just supposed to keep doing this and losing babies? Three M/C's in a row seems suspicious to me. I'm not a Doc or anything, but it seems that this would raise a red flag.
I just wish there was another RE that I could go to. I get the impression that RE doesn't know what to do with me anymore. I AM overweight. (About 100 extra pounds-eek!) I know that weight reduction will help PCOS and my healthiest pregnancy was after I dropped about 20 lbs last year. Is this my only answer? I do have an HSG scheduled but there can't be anything wrong with the tubes if I am getting PG, right?

I am doubting there is anything wrong with the tubes, since you are getting PG, but there could be something in your uterus that is causing issues (septums, etc.) An HSG may pick that up, or perhaps a hysteroscopy. (I had a hysteroscopy on April 12th that came back normal, along with an endometrial biopsy that also came back normal.)
Many REs don't test for NK cells because most insurance plans don't cover it. (This is why my RE skipped it - he didn't even ask me about it - but I would have paid for it; I didn't care.) In my opinion, "Leave no stone unturned" and if you have to pay for it yourself, it's still worth it. And if your medical expenses hit a certain level during the year, you can deduct them anyway. When I asked him about it, he said "Well, I'll run the test, but you tested + for a funky antibody called phos. serine, and the treatment for that is usually IVIg, which is the same treatment for NK cells, so honestly I think there is no point." I could see where he was coming from on that, so I dropped it.
Here is a link to Millenova Labs in Chicago, who does the NK cell testing for my RE: http://www.millenova.com/tests/nkassay.asp . There is a lot of interesting info on this site.
Have you had karyotyping done by chance?
Hope your 4th of July weekend is going OK. Mine is good so far. The weather here is decent - high 80s but not too humid, so it's tolerable. (Last weekend was almost 100 degrees with about 500% humidity, it seemed.) It hasn't rained in almost 3 weeks!
Please consider Karyotyping too. My RE ran these tests on me after we had only 2 early losses and I am so grateful he did, my sig tells why. Karyotyping should be done on your partner too.
Best of luck and sorry you are suffering this once again.
Karen

Yes, you can count my DH & I as one of the few couples out there w/ unexplained RPL and it stinks! We didn't get immune testing done and that was for personal reasons. At that point we were just done w/ having m/c's and getting our hopes up to be shot down. We were/are ready to have a family and just had enough so we pushed up our plans and decided that adoption was right for us.
I've been right where you are, the confusion of not knowing what's wrong yet you should be happy b/c nothing's wrong. I remember after I had a lap/hysteroscopy my RE walking in saying "You're not going to be happy" Then he said that nothing was wrong w/ me and that's the first thing my DH said to him when he said nothing was wrong... At that point I had totally had it (DH did too, we were just totally sick of TTC for so many years only to be stuck w/ having unexplained RPL)and I knew I couldn't take it anymore.
If you want to go w/ immune testing, Dr. Beer works w/ your dr (if your dr is willing to work w/ him, if not you could find a new one that would be willing) long distance to figure out if there are immune issues. Now most RE's will tell you it's controversial and new territory but from my research immunology has been tested since the 50's so it's not new at all. We just didn't really want to put my body through all that and I knew my body or emotional state could not handle more m/c's.
I would suggest karotyping for both you & your DH. We had that done (just simple b/w) and it came back normal.
Ok, this sounds like a total adoption infomercial or something...I really didn't mean it to sound like that, just sharing my story.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Traci
