Post Good news for thin cysters

Hey there fellow thin cysters:
I just thought I would share with you what my RE told me at the last visit. I am 10 weeks pregnant with twins after the first month of clomid, and I was concerned that I would get more sympoms of PCOS after delivery. My doctor told me that after delivery I would go back to whatever my body was before-no periods,no ovulation. He said that it is very unlikely that I would change into someone who has full blown PCOS with all of the symptoms that they deal with-excess hair, glucose intolerance, increased body weight, ect.

We seem to be very different from our other cysters with weight problems.I just feel thankful that my symptoms aren't as severe and they aren't going to just "show up" one day. Hope that helps.

Shanster

Great news Shanster!

I wish it on all of us. My doc told me the same thing, but with a maybe at the beginning.
Anyway, since I am going natural, I don't think I'll stop low carbing (except cheating a littler here and there) and then hopefully my body will cooperate for sure.
Good luck with the twins,
Kuzi

First of all i'm happy to hear about your pregnancy that is great!!!Now im not saying your doctor is wrong about never having worse pcos problems but let me tell you my story.I was always very thin my whole life.I got pregnant at 18 and had a beautiful daughter.I only weighed 129 pounds at 9 months pregnant and i delivered a 6 pound baby.I lost all my weight right away.I went back down to 110 pounds(i'm 5'5 by the way).Well i've always had some acne since i started my period at 12.But as the years went by it got worse after having my daughter.By the time i was 24 i started to get some excess hair on my belly and toes and fingers but i was still very thin (110 pounds). At 26 years old i started to get very sick with colds all the time and the acne got worse and the hair also but the weight was still 110 pounds. At 27 years old i started to put on about 5 pounds,no big deal right?well here i am now at 29 years old and i weigh 160 pounds.Needless to say this is pretty depressing for me.I used to be a hard body.I did nothing different as far as eating goes all the sudden i just ballooned up and could not stop the weight.I am not saying this will happen to you but it did happen to me.It's part od pcos and having screwed up hormones. So i guess i'm just trying to say ,take care of yourself and try to stay as healthy as you can. Dont slack on being healthy.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I have a 10 mth old and am slimmer than ever. I am 5'4" and weigh 105. I was 115 before the pregnancy and put on almost 40 lbs.
My skin, so far is clear and the only symptom I still have is the lack of periods, again. I'm trying for #2 and am back on Metformin with no results like before. So, I'm guessing I'm back at square one again with TTC though my dr was hoping it would be easier this time as she feels that sometimes preg can help correct your hormones. No such luck to date.
I hope everything works out well for you!

I worried about staying heavy after I had my daughter. I now weigh less and am in better shape than I was when I got pregnant with her. It took a good year to get the weight off due to breast feeding (whoever says it causes you to loose the weight faster lies!). I have been working out for a year several times a week at a local gym, am now on met, and low carbing. I feel better than ever. I wish I had done of these things years ago.

I really hope that everything is smooth for you after you give birth but it might be an idea to take extra care of yourself.About six months after I gave birth my symptoms got worse.I have heard from other women with PCOS that they found the same thing. For me it was simply horriffic mood swings.I was thinking about phyciatric treatment or suicide.I had excess body hair where I hadn`t had it before and I started to put on weight. In desparation I started to search the net for help as my endo. told me I just had to live with it.I found another forum and lots of advice.Since changing my diet and cutting out ssimple carbs (sugar and white, low fibre starches) I am a new woman and I have lost the weight. It`s not all doom and gloom but it always pays to be carful with yourself and make sure you have lots of support.

Congratulations Shanster!!

Twins- WOW! I am 36 and a thin sister. After both of my pregnancies (Clomid used) I returned to my normal state of acne, mild hair issues and fairly thin. Each time I did return to the pill to help with the PCOS. The second time I did it at my 6 week visit and was happier about myself and my body than the first time around. While the pill isn't great, it does clear my skin and help to keep my hormones regulated, something I found essential after giving birth and all the wacky hormone stuff that happens during preg. and delivery. I agree with your doctor. Relax and things will probably return to your "normal" when all is said and done. Best wishes for you and the babies!
Chris
