I am 39 and was diagnosed with PCOS a year ago. I have been trying to find the reason to my health issues for years, but doctors always put me on different bcp...thinking that would help. I went to a dermatologist to have a spot on my skin looked at, and the doctor told me I had PCOS just by looking at me. Later tests comfirmed the diagnosis. No OB/GYN I had ever seen even gave me a diagnosis close to this!! Now I am married, and I want to have a child. I am scared to death that I will not become pregnant, and if I do....I may have a miscarriage. I have an appointment on Monday with a new OB, and I am hoping they will tell me it's not too late. My hubby can't even mention the thought of us having children without my crying. I hope to find answers on this site.....and others in my situation.

    Unhappy

Me, too. I feel like I hope my time hasn't run out I want to my RE the other day after not trying meds for a year (on a break) and he said that at my age (37) I should maybe consider injections or IVF. He really pushed me to do the IVF. But its so EXPENSIVE! Paying 10-15,000 dollars a shot doesn't make sense to me! I'd do it at a drop of the hat if I had the money. I just sometimes think its too late for me.

This is uplifting news, though I'm wondering about the 1/3 that don't conceive naturally. I don't ovulate even when I do have a period, so I think I am in that 1/3 that will need to take fertility drugs. I took Clomid for awhile, and it was a total shock to my system. Scary!
