Default Good orthodontist - recommendations?

Hi everyone - I need to go and see an orthodontist (long story)...just wondering if you have had an experiences with orthodontist's in Brisbane and whether anyone could make a recommendation? Does anyone know how much their prices differ - should I shop around? Get a couple of opinions? I wonder if ortho's in the city will be more than in the suburbs? I work in the city so that would be the easiest, but if it's going to cost thousands more I'll travel!

It's going to be fabulous being 29 and having braces...but I've heard your mouth hurts so much when you get them on that you can't eat...so it might be good for the diet.

Thanks!

Miranda

I'm in NZ so cant help with a rec' but yes your information is correct. I had braces for 2 yrs when they first get put on and each subsequent adjustment usually finds you running to the supermarket for what I call slurp food- food which doesnt require any chewing (and resulting pressure on your teeth) such as yoghurt, soup, noodles etc or things like mashed veggies that you can just shove down your throat. but the good news is that once it is all over it is really great to have straight teeth. The pain often fades after a couple of days and you can go back to eating things like bread but it may be a few more days again before you are ready for things like biscuits and other firm foods.

Last year I fell off my bike on the way to uni and broke my 2 front teeth, and now without being able to continue my orthodontic treatment they are starting to twist and I can tell you once you get used to lovely straight teeth its great, I really miss it! I cant believe I would say this but I cant wait to get back to the orthodontist as I want to have them straight again!
