Hello, Just wanted to see if anyone can recommend a good doctor for PCOS in Vancouver Washington. We are currently covered under the Kaiser Health Plan. But would possibly change to find a good knowledgeable doctor that can help me.
Thanks!
Corina
Hi there I am in vancouver also and covered through Kaiser. if you don't mind me asking what Kaiser clinic do you use here? Well after the run around with my dr he just emailed me and told me he would refer me to an endo specialist because he has no clue what is wrong with me. I know there are dr at sunnyside and interstate. So if i come up with something I will let you know.
Wow! How nice to have someone familiar with the Kaiser Medical system!! I go to the Clinic in Cascade Park and Salmon Creek. I was dignosed with PCOS at the Cascade Park one by a great obgyn that has not been there for several yrs. due to extended medical leave.
I just went to see a dr. in Salmon Creek, not helpful at all. She just said "girl you need to loose weight!! Like I didn't know that. This is the main reason I went because people with PCOS have a hard time loosing!! She said if you don't eat you wont gain, you will loose, wow great advise doc. I forgot to ask her about the Insulite System. I asked about Metformin she didn't think that was a good idea, she said the bc pill is my best option. 15 minutes and a co-payment later I was back home feeling the same way I did when I went there!!
I know how you feel. I go to Salmon Creek and I have not been officially diagonosed. I have done every test imaginable. I have been checked for endometrosis(sp) I had ad HSG a colposcopy(ouch!) you name it the list goes on. I had a Dr. at salmon creek who I thank the heavenly Father above that she is no longer there tell me the same thing as you. To lose weight she recommended there program through weight watcher or LA Weightloss. I can see that out on my own. I am waiting for Endo to call me to set up and appt. I hate when you find a dr. that is critical and does not want to help you in any way. I am going to fight for the met when i go to endo. I don't want BCP because DH and I do want to have another child since our baby will be 9 on tuesday its due time now. My bio clock is ticking. The only thing is I hope endo can pinpoint it because my test came back normal and I have been told on here that they are running the wrong tests on me. I have been battling this with Kaiser for about 7 years now.
Well hey if you ever want to talk private about our experiences with Kaiser my private email is klmlsykes@comcast.net
I do wish you better luck than I have with these Kaiser docs. Please let me know the endo you see, well if he/she is any good that is. I wanted to get on met too, however my gyn said since I do not want any more children she did not think that it would fit into my life. However, there are so many women that take Met and say it helps with the weight issues, oh what to do. My doc said she could give me met, bc and this other stuff to help with the hair growth on my face, my thought was great I can be a walking pill!! Besides, I did not think you could be on met and bc at the same time, who knows, certianly not them!!
You say you have been fighting this issue with your docs at Kaiser for 7 years, sounds like me I am going on my 8th year and still no solution....other than the obvious, loose weight. Easier said than done.
What diet program do you follow? I do the Atkins diet, although it is becoming more and more difficult they say for PCOS you need to be on a diet for life, I don't know if this is the one.
I am not on a diet right...heavns knows I should be on one lol. I did do atkins will great results on weight loss. I dropped 35 pounds in alomost 2 months on it. But got bored real fast on it. I need start again, now that I am going back to work full time I should be able to manage the atkins program while I am at work since I will be packing my lunch everyday. WEll I tell you this battle is no fun. I just hope I have better luck with endo. I will keep in touch and let you know how things go with it.
I saw a wonderful Kaiser doc in Cascade Park and I wish I could remember her name. It was about 4 years ago. I was actually dx'd by Dr. Yturri who is a family practice doctor, believe it or not. However when it came to TTC stuff I saw the doc at Cascade Park and she was phenominal. If I heard her name I would know it. I wonder if there's a listing for that office??
If you go to www.kp.org you can find a list of medical staff at any kaiser clinic in the vancouver portland metro area. When you go there just click on member then go to locate services and click on medical staff directory. I have never really gone to cascade park just for urgent care. I started out at vancouver clinic over by hudson bay and had a wonderful dr ther by the name of carolyn stadler she is cnm and she was my dr 9 years ago when i had my son. after that I was seen in internal medicine by a dr. brietenger(sp) at salmon creek she was awful to me. I see Dr fuchs in ob/gyn and he is a wonderful upfront dr that has put me through every test possible but just has no experience with this so my primary care provider who i just started see is sending me to an endo specialist so I hope i get answers soon.
Would the name be Adsit? That is the dr. I saw in Cascade park that diagnosed me. However, she took an extended leave of absense to be home with her children.
Hopefully it is a different one....it would be nice to have a great Kaiser dr.
