I am searching for a good PCOS or Endo Dr. in the MD/DC area. I work in Bethesda and would be willing to drive for the right doctor. I am currently on Actos + Met 850/15 combo pill and take that 2x's a day for the last 4 months. Thanks to this medicine I have received 3 28 days apart cycles!!! Never happended that often on just met or gluc. Now I have to determine if I am ovulating so that is why I need a good Endo or PCOS Dr. to continue this journey so we can become prego!!
Any recommendations is sooooo appreciated!! Also any "beware" feedback on area doctors would be great as well!
Thanks everyone!

I live in the Baltimore area and am seeing an amazing fertility specialist; I highly recommend him! His name is Samuel Smith and he works out of Franklin Square Hospital (for visits and routine check-ups) and Union Memorial (for IVF).
I have Aetna insurance, which he accepts. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is extremely thorough. His staff of nurses are exceptional.
For anyone new to the infertility process, it is TIME CONSUMING and requires a lot of dedication ... Dr. Smith will expect to see you DAILY for monitoring through your cycles. It takes a lot, but I think it's worth it ...
Email me for additional information. And, GOOD LUCK.

I have an amazing fertility specialist/endo - his name is Pierre Asmar and he's with the Washington Fertility Center - they have offices in Annandale, VA, Rockville, MD and all over MD and VA. He's the sweetest, most caring doctor I've ever met, and they have really high success rates. They're always packed when I go for my appointments - and everyone who goes to him loves him. I've been going there for five years - and now have a six month old little boy. Make sure you see him though - there are a few other docs but he's the best.
Here's the site -http://www.washingtonfertility.com/index.html
Good luck!
Hi ladies! I live in Baltimore County and I've been seeing an Infertility doctor by the name of Dr. Gene Katz at GBMC and my Endocrinologist is Dr. Corina Fratilia and she is located at St. Joseph's Medical Center Bay Area Endocrinology.

Beware of Contemporary OB/GYN Associates. They have offices all over Montgomery County. I'm still too angry & hurt by their incompetence to even go into specifics, but trust me they have no buisness treating any woman with PCOS.
I'm currently seeing an Endo in Frederick, she's okay but I don't know that I'd recommed her.
Good luck! Let us know if you find a good doc!

Hi all! When my ob/gyn diagnosed me with PCOS and sent me to a fertilty specialist/re she only recommended one place, Shady Grove Fertility and Reproductive Science. I went to the Columbia and Annapolis, MD offices was Dr. Joseph Osheroff. I cannot say enough great things about him and about Shady Grove. Dr. O is very compassionate and gentle and believes in educating his clients about his findings and about their options. He doesn't push you one way or another on treatment but leaves it up to you and respects your decisions. You can check them out at www.shadygrovefertility.com
Hello all! I just joined soulcysters.net after coming across the website while I was doing a search on PCOS and fertility. I was diagnosed with PCOS 16 years ago and have been seeing a great endocrinologist ever since my diagnosis. Her name is Dr. Linda Liu and she practices in Rockville at Endocrine and Diabetes Associates. There are a total of 5 doctors at this practice but I only know about Dr. Liu. When I started seeing her I just didn't know what to do with my irregular periods and excessive hair growth. Through the years we have changed medications several times depending on my goals (initially was weight loss, to regulate menses and decrease hair growth). I'm getting married this year and want to try and get pregnant as soon as possible after the wedding so I again worked with Dr. Liu and we changed my meds again (now only on Metformin 500 MG 3/day). I know that it will be difficult to conceive with PCOS but Dr. Liu gives me hope. And ever since I've been on the metformin I've had regular 28-day cycles and have ovulated 3 times!! I haven't had regular cycles since I was 14!! Anyway... if you're looking for a doctor in the Washington, DC metro area I would highly recommend Dr. Liu. Good luck!
I just had my first appointment at Columbia Fertility in Washington (Foggy Bottom). It's close to metro, and I was able to get an appointment as a new patient in less than 2 weeks (many other places I called the wait was backed up at least 2 months). They've got two other locations, in Bethesda and Arlington.
I can't give a full out recommendation just yet since I've only been for one appointment, but I was fairly impressed with how they handled me during my first visit. The first visit was already better than with my gyno back home.
p.s. They take most insurance.

I'm also looking for an Endo---my GYN (who is GREAT, Dr. Deborah Wilder of Women's Care Physician's Group, Northern VA locations) referred me to Dr. Carmen Pastor in Sterling. DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN. She was a total nightmare, rude, thoughts I was just a lazy fat girl no matter what I said, explained nothing even though I asked questions, forgot to fill out scripts correctly, never told me side effects, etc, etc, etc. The lab I go to for blood work and my pharmacist have both told me to get rid of her--she keeps making them do extra work because of her.
So I'm again on the search for a good Endo. in Northern VA---I live in Centreville, work in Fairfax, so someone in those areas would be nice.

My OBs here are Drs. Miguel Fernandez and Amy Porter. Dr. Fernandez is the one who diagnosed me with PCOS. They have an office in Herndon and one in Arlington. The Herndon number is 703-437-8080
My RE, whom I love was Dr. Eric Widra at Shady Grove Fertility in DC. That number is 202-444-1511.
I haven't seen him since I got pregnant in 2005 but I assume and hope that he is still there. I got prego on my first clomid/IUI cycle with him!
