Default Lab results

I know your frustration. I received my lab tests back too, and my endo said that all was fine. I was diagnosed 20 years ago with PCOS by my OB/Gyn. No other doctor has treated me for it since he retired shortly after my diagnosis. Keep addressing the issue with your Dr. Eventually they'll have to deal with the problem. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. At the same time, part of me is thinking that maybe it really ISN'T my thyroid. I started working out on a regular basis last week (I wasn't going to the gym that often before) and I am feeling better. I've also made a bigger effort at eating better as well, so that's helped. Who knows? Everything is an enigma!

Hi all. I'm new to this site. Was first diagnosed with hashimoto's hypothyroidism 3 yrs ago. Just diagnosed with pcos a couple of weeks ago.

Be sure to have your doctor define what they are rating "normal" at. The "normal" range for labs has been lowered (I think it's a range of approx .3-3.00 - I stress I think). I'll have to double check this but it used to go up to 5. I personally feel best when my labs come in around 1.5. I've read that someone without thyroid disorder would test from 1 to 2. You can also carry antibodies (meaning your body is "attacking" your thyroid as a foreign object & trying to rid itself of this object - this is hashimotos) and then still test "normal" on your tsh levels. The range at which you feel best is what your doctor should be looking for. I've also heard endos can number crunch a little too much and say you're in the normal range & stop there. This may leave you at the high end of "normal" whereas you may feel your best at the low end of the normal range.

Hope this helps if you weren't already aware.

I just verified the "normal" tsh range is .3 to 3.04. It used to be .5 to 5.00.

A great website for thyroid info is http://thyroid.about.com
