Our I171-H came in the mail today! We're still waiting on a reference letter from a procrastinating friend, but we should have that on Sunday. We just have to get a few things apostilled, print off some pictures, and we can send our dossier in!
The way it works in Colombia is once our papers get there, it will take them a few weeks to approve us (basically just making sure everything is in order). Once we're approved we will either be offered a waiting child, or go on a waiting list for a child that meets our specifications!
I'm thrilled! I think we'll have to go out when DH gets off work tonight and buy Sam a gift to celebrate! (We've been buying him gifts.. toys, books, etc.. at all the major milestones )

I'm so happy for you & your DH. I've watched your adoption paperchase unfold here and am so excited for you that you're so close to your child!
I can't wait to hear all about your trip to Columbia. I loved our time in Guatemala and can't wait to go back someday with the kids when they're older.
Don't forget to keep a journal too ! I didnt until we went to Ukraine and now we have been home almost 2 months and "what happened !!!!" Time flies, it would be nice if I could remember each day to write what he did ! HAHA lazy me
Wow this is great I dont think we have anyone else on the board adopting Columbia .. so I cant wait to see how the process goes for you
Take care
Amy

Keep us posted (if you don't mind) on how things are going. While I am still leaning towards Panama, Columbia was our other choice.
Best wishes for a speedy and blessed adoption

Thanks everyone Our procrastinating friend finally gave us his reference letter this morning, so I just need to go get a few things apostilled tomorrow and print some pictures then we can send everything off to the agency to be translated and sent down to Colombia!! We've started moving everything out so I can begin my nursery painting as soon as the weather dries up, so I guess Sam's "Dossier submission" gift will be PAINT!

Congrats, Brandy! It must feel so great to have the paper chase completed. We are just starting and it feels overwhelming at the moment. We have set ourselves the goal of completing 2-3 items on the list of things to do per week and that way it should be done in a timely fashion.
Have fun painting the nursery ... what colour have you chosen? I am going to go with sage green for the nursery.
Hope your referral comes real quick and that you have your son home before the holidays!
