Metformin is for insulin resistance, BUT is possibly helpful in reducing androgen levels in some women with PCOS. By reducing androgen levels the body is able to Ovulate. It may be helpful on its own or along with clomid for some women. You don't need to be insulin resistant to try it. It is helpful for thin PCOSers as well. Doesn't work for everyone though.
So basically, it is for either controlling blood sugar level or as an aid to ovulation, depending on the situation.
