by my consultant for putting 2kg on they don't want me to put any weight on while i'm pg, cos i'm overweight, and have told me to do more exercise - bloody hell i'm exhausted as it is.

I gained very little when I was pregnant.
I've had 3 sons and every pregnancy was different except my weight. I was 185 when I got preg. 192 when I gave birth and 165 when I went for my 6 week check up.
I can see them asking to keep it down, but even the smallest gain is so boosting to the mother. I was concerned the first time, the other times I didn't worry and no one said anything specific about it.
I think gaining that little shows you are working at keeping your weight down. Think of how much some women gain when they are pregnant. My sister gained 85 lbs during her first pregnancy. (the so & so took it off right after easily grrr)
I think you should do your best but I don't think it's encouraging you to tell you off.
This is the kind of doctor who scares some of us away from getting medical treatment. It's as bad as telling us we're fat and if we lost weight we'd be "all better".
As long as you know you are doing your best, I think it would be an idea to not put a lot into their opinions of your weight since a lot of doctors don't realize how difficult it is when you aren't pregnant ~ in a way it's worse when you are. If you only gain 7 lbs like I did, I can't see that being such a big gain that it would affect the birth differently than your weight would now. In a way, I guess I figure that however it ends up, it's supposed to be that way, and doing the best you can is better than doing more than you should and hurting yourself or the babe.
Don't let them discourage you.

You will be able to deal with your weight problem more once the baby is born but right now you are doing great!

My God it's hardly a huge gain. As long as you know your not sitting eating nothing but galaxy bars washed down by sweet tea thats the main thing.
I don't think that you can have complete control over it anyway. My sisters are classic examples of this. The youngest eats nothing but takeaways and crisps and drinks about 2litres of full fat coke a day, she put on about 12lb while pregnant.
My middle sister when from a size 24 to a 10 and is very conscious of eating healthily and keeping the figure she worked so hard for. She managed to put on 5 stone when pregnant which was all the more surprising as she was sick for seven of the nine months.
As long as you know you are doing your best for a healthy mummy and baby thats all that counts

Im surprised they even weighed you. I thought they only weighed at the beginning and then at 36weeks. Dont worry too much though, from everything I read weight gain (lack of or too much) dosnt really affect the health of the baby. I put on about 4 or 5 stone during my pregnancy and by your stage I had gained about 2stone already!
I think you have done really well to only put on 2kg by this stage. grr at them for having a go at you.

jeez it seems a bit unrealistic to be told to gain no weight at all now its gonna get gross here but I could be constipated and gain that. your weight fluctuates anyway and as others have said your overall diet and health is most important. Can you do a bit of walking somwhere like in a shopping centre(bridges, metrocentre etc) so you can sit down when you get tired? Anyway take care
Do they not realise how ahrd it is to get pregnant, stay healthy and be sane with PCOS? without adding to your burden.......bloomin' dr's

yes i had a walk around the bridges (shopping centre) today and had a coffee as a bit of a break.
i'm gonna try and get out with my friend over the weekend and have a nice walk along the beach and drop in for a diet coke at the pub.
Naomi, they weigh me everytime i go (fortnightly) cos i am overweight and have a high BMI. They say they only weigh those overweight and under weight, but it ususally those in the middle who have the most weight problems when pg cos they are not monitored

You're pregnant, you're growing a baby - it would be strange not to gain any weight!!!
Just nod and smile and do your best with the healthy eating side of things. And if you can squeeze in a bit more exercise then do it! Other than that, don't stress yourself.
