Default "Grainy" Scalp??

Very often, if I scratch my scalp, I'll get these little, white, grainy things under my nails. My head will be clean, but I still get them. Does anyone else have this?

Yes! It annoys the hell out of me too. I use head and shoulders and it seems to help somewhat but they still pop up once in a while. Don't know what it is, I don't know if its dandruff or not because its almost like little round hard white bits.

YES!! Exactly! It's not flaky like dandruff. It's like little, well, like you said - it's little round hard white bits. lol My hair is thinning quite a bit on the top. I wonder if it has anything to do with that?

I thought I was the only one that got these! I get them all the time...I notice them more toward the end of the evening, my scalp will itch a bit and there will be all these little white grainy things. You can't really see them, but they're there. I asked my hair stylist about it and she said it's just a form of dry scalp.

I get them too but I always thought they were secretions from the hair folicle.

I generally have oily hair so I never thought the little granules might be an indication of dry scalp. How interesting. Of course, nothing with my body surprises me anymore!

I've thought about that, too.

hmm and I thought I was the only one who had this (or noticed it, anyway!) - I assumed I was just paying too much attention to my scalp! My hair tends to be on the oily side so it's surprising to hear it might be dry scalp.

i get this all the time. It shows up 2-3 days after I shampoo and every day in my eyebrows....

I'm thinking it maybe has something to do with the DHT in the scalp? I am very quickly losing my hair and it maybe part of the problem?

I have it too! For as long as I can remember too. Even right after I've showered and scrubbed my scalp with shampoo, the grainy stuff is still there. So annoying, I never thought that anyone else had it though.

It probably DOES have to do with the DHT. ugh!

Des, I didn't think anyone else would know what I was talking about! lol

I thought I was the only one who has this! Whenever I ask my friends or stylist, they look at me like I'm crazy. I always think they're follicles of some sort. Maybe ones that don't work now that my hair is thinning?
